“A boutique hotel that feels like home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2009

This is a lovely boutique hotel, beautifully decorated without being pretentious, where the staff is very helpful and kind, the food is surprisingly delicious and cooked to order, free wireless, fireplace in the living room, and overall very cozy.

This property is owned by the same people that run Sacha Lodge. It is located in La Floresta part of Quito which is a quaint and safe neighborhood. Casa Aliso arranged transportation to and from the airport for us. They also arranged for a local English-speaking guide to take us around Quito for the day. The rooms are very comfortable and luxurious. Beautiful comfortable beds, nice hot showers, standard toiletries, a bath robe, slippers, and bottled water are all provided. Wireless internet is available at no charge, and they have digital cable TV with approx 60-70 channels (some of which are broadcast from Miami). Breakfast was fantastic. (It included freshly made fruit juices, breads with jelly, yogurt, granola, a fruit platter, and eggs & bacon, with yummy Ecuadorian coffee or tea.) We were even offered afternoon coffee and crackers at no additional charge. The common areas of the Casa Aliso are beautiful with sitting areas, a fireplace, candles, a garden, etc. They offered us a personal heater for our room (which was not necessary). They have a laundry service for charge and small personal lock box.

I cannot speak highly enough of the service. My husband initially had an upset stomach, and our driver gladly stopped by a pharmacy for him, and offered him some local tea to soothe his stomach.

Next door, there are two restaurants on the same block. (ALKIMIA and Chancey´s) I highly recommend the ALKIMIA restaurant. The food and service was outstanding. Apparently, they offer dinner at Casa Aliso as well, though we did not personally try this. La Choza is just a few blocks away - we did not get the chance to try this out but heard it was a great place to get local dishes.
