Great views over the city, with the Basilica in pride of place. Elevated above the old town and about a $2.00 taxi ride the cafe serves great coffee, cakes, snacks and main meals. Well worth the journey up hill. First restaurant we have found that is not only dog friendly, but includes a menu for your furry best friend, and of course comfy beds for them to while away their time. Having wondered around the city we have found a hidden gem.

Great views of Quito, but that's about the only reason to go. Food is mediocre at best, and overpriced for Quito. Service is hit or miss. Go around sunset for a drink or snack and to soak up the view, but think about going elsewhere to eat.

If you want to have one of the best down town view in Quito, go to this place, but don’t eat here! Maximum ask for a typical beverage like Canelazo.
I feel this place a little dirty. Any way...as said up: Great View, bad food

The view from the balcony is indeed spectacular, especially if you are there at sunset and watch the lights come on all over the city. This Cafe is famous for it since 25 years or more but by now it is no longer the only vantage point for beautiful views of the city.
The service is slow and mostly indifferent, you would be hard pressed to get a friendly gesture or a smile out of any of them.
The food is indifferent. Our table had a hamburger that was ok, a basket called Ambrosia that had an eclectic mix of unrelated food such as pieces of salami, pita bread with humus, carrot sticks, onion rings and sme fried pieces of chicken and pork. They would do much better putitng together a basket of Ecuadorian specialties.
We also had smeth8ng called Bawaffle which is a waffle made of plantain, that was atrocious. The “canelazos” hot wine punch was very good.
I would suggest going there for a drink and half an hour of enjoying the view at dusk.
