“Only for couples, only at night.”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

The food wasn't good, and it was expensive. The only reason to come there is to take your gf out to watch Quito at night.
Must say its quite romantic.

“great place to eat, greek food also”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

this is run by a greek-american-ecuadorian who loves music and cooks very creatively. The view is great. It says 'cafe', but it's really a restaurant.

“Killer view of Quito, food good”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

People come here for the spectacular view, not the food, which is good, not great. Best time to arrive is late afternoon just before Quito's businesses close and the place fills up with patrons. Linger while the sun goes down and the lights of the city come on. It's worth it!

As for our meal: the menu is kinda-sorta Greek with some Ecuadorian dishes and Gringo staples. We ordered Greek and discovered they had run out of feta cheese! We had mozzarella instead and enjoyed the light show.

“Great atmosphere, amazing view!”
Reviewed May 17, 2013 via mobile

Grabbed coffee and humitas (a typical ecuadorian tamale-type snack) during the afternoon and had a great time. Great view that overlooks the city, I can only imagine how pretty it would be at night!

“go for the view”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

My wife and I spent 5 days in Quito and went to Cafe Mosaico based on the reviews posted on Trip Advisor. It truly is a perfect place to have a wonderful view of the historic portion of Quito. We walked from the cathedral area and perhaps this was a mistake since it took us the better part of an hour and it was mostly up hill. However, once we arrived we were rewarded with a great view while sitting on the terrace. We arrived early (just before 5pm) as advised so we would have no difficulty finding a table. This was good advice as by 6pm the place had filled up quite a bit. Plus, by that time darkness had set in so the view (except for the lighting) had been reduced.

As for the food, as others have said it is average to good but certainly not 4 star. The menu is primarily Greek and you get a good plate full. The service was very good and friendly although servers do not speak much English. Not to worry as the menues are printed in English. We took a cab back to town (called by the restaurant manager) and it cost about $7 US.
