We stayed in Aleida's Hostal over Christmas and New Year this year. The rooms were comfy and clean as were the common areas, and breakfast was refreshing and set you up well for the day. As others have said however, the real treat is the owner who was truly wonderful. From the moment she greeted us with a broad smile (after we'd travelled from the airport in a taxi she had arranged), she made our stay a real delight. She gave us good advice on where to go,how to get there (and where to avoid); did huge quantities of washing for us; looked after both of us when we were unwell making us soothing drinks and food; and also looked after the bulk of our luggage for two periods when we travelled elsewhere in South America for a few days. The fact that we kept returning to Aleida's should say it all - it was one of the most welcoming places we've ever stayed.
