“very comfy, family place, great location and awesome owner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

Aleida was recommended to me by a friend. I really didn't know what to expect.
i wrote an email to reserve and I got this nice response from the owner. she didn't have a single room so she offered me the administrations room for the first night. she organized a pickup at the airport and she was waiting for me at the door when I arrived.
Elena, the owner, is super great. it's like having a family member taking care of you. she helps you with anything she can,
The hostel is super clean. I had a private room ( she gave me the "brides room") with bathroom. the view was great, no annoying noises at night. great bed to sleep on. and a small television. there is a central living room that is great if you just want to read a book or watch some tv. there is also a book exchange and the have this cute garden where you can enjoy the sun in the morning.
the staff is super nice as well. they were like my sisters.
the location of the hotel is very central. 2 blocks from one of the main bus lines that take you anywhere in quito and 5 blocks away from fosh plaza( bars and club district)
the breakfast is simple but you can ask for more. ( no charge). I love coffee and there was always coffee. if not Elena made it with lots of love.
in Aleida you can also cook your own food. the supermarket is at 5 min walking from the hotel. I cooked there every day and I even shared it with Elena.

bottom line: If you want a small clean place to stay where the people treat you like people, Aleida Hostel is the place to go.

Room Tip: aal the rooms are great. it depends on what you need.

Aleida was the right hostel to start our trip in Ecuador and Colombia.
We felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. People are so kind and nice. The room was simple but clean and well. The price was also a great part it was really cheap for what you got.
you can ask a lot and the staff will give you the right answer to enjoy quito and surroundings.
Recommended to any traveler.

We stayed a total of 4 nights here --using Aleida's as our Quito base. Rooms were clean and comfortable, the included breakfast great but the real treat is the owner. She is always there and so willing to help with whatever you need. I was ill and she made me herb tea, kept our luggage as we traveled, secured cabs, etc. It was better than visiting friends. I would recommend this very reasonable hostal to anyone.

Room Tip: There is no elevator so pack light!

We had a three people room with private bath. Very clean. Elena is very helpful and gives you a map of Quito. Breakfast is basic : 2 eggs, toasts (no butter, no jam), juice, coffee/ tea.
Negative: hot water is available only during certain hours, and you have to ask to turn it on if you want to shower at a different time.
It is a clean place for cheap.
Elena arranged for a car service to transfer us from and to the airport. We had agreed for the price with Elena. When the driver Alex picked us up from the airport, he asked for more money to pay the parking. When he dropped us back at the airport, he asked for "a commission", which I don't know what it is for. Beware of extra fees with the Alex car service.

I stayed here three nights before Galapagos and one night after and was happier with the first room I had (room 10) than the second one (room 12) as it had a row of glass panes high up with no curtains and with the light streaming through the glass domed roof of the building I was awake very early, but that is really my only negative comment on this hostal. As everyone agrees, Elena is a great host and stays up or gets up all hours of the night and day to make sure you get away alright. The rooms are very basic, with a bed, a wooden frame for hanging clothes on and a bedside table. Nothing more. No safe, no tea or coffee facilities, and only very basic toiletries, but I found it ok for a short stay. I could borrow a hair drier and I'm sure she'll have anything else you need to make your stay comfortable. It's in a quiet neighbourhood and within walking distance to Mariscal, but not the old city. The taxis she calls for you are at least double what the regular ones cost, so I took the organised ones in to town and regular ones back without any problems. Just take the map with you to show the drivers exactly where to go or get them to drop you at the Swissotel and walk the short distance to the hostal. The restaurant right next to the hostal makes very good chicken wings and fries and is a good option for a quick meal. The taxi ride to the airport takes at most an hour. It's very convenient to ask Elena to arrange a taxi to wait for you on arrival at the airport (do this by e-mail in advance). It's reliable and a safe option and they know exactly where to go. Be sure to take the hop-on hop-off bus when in Quito. It's well worth it. You can get on in the Mariscal area quite close to the hotel and buy a ticket as you board.

I would recommend staying at Aleida's. It's reasonably priced and comfortable and homely.

Room Tip: There's a room right next to reception on the ground floor that would probably not be very nice...

We were 4 days at the Aleida's Hostal, it was great. Good juices, good breakfast. The host is very helpful and very very nice. Everything is clean and security is a priority. It's a good area with services and good restaurants.

We stayed at aleidas hostel in total six nights. The owner is soo sweet and really helpful. The rooms are decent and room and shared bathrooms are clean. Breakfast was also very good. Beds are a little hard, but we would stay there again.
