“Best option in Valparaiso for a romantic scape!”
Reviewed March 10, 2014 via mobile

Classic 6-room top of tje hill house turned into a nicely restored boutique getaway. Very quiet though next to everything. Gonzalo -the owner- and his team (Michelle & Leo) made us feel at a 5 star hotel. Nice rooms, modern bathrooms, complete breakfast, and the best "what to do" reccos... Voga is a no-brainer among the Valpo offer.

We stayed there for a couple of nights and it was amazing. Beautifully located in Valparaiso, decorated with love and taste and great and very helpful staff and owners. I can recommend Voga Exclusive to anyone wanting to have a great Valparaiso experience!

We loved this place. it was perfect for our 1 day in Valpariaso. Located at the top of a nice hill with a lot to walk to We walked up and down the complete hill twice during our stay. Many nice restaurants and great views along the way and near the hotel. Gonzalo (owner) and Michelle ( early shift reception) are excellent and full of information and recommendations if you have any questions. We stayed in the room near the top of the stairs overlooking the patio and it was great. Nice little bathroom connected and private and great view. Highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: We loved the room at the top of the stairs overlooking the patio.

Booking from Tripadvisor reviews we were very optimistic.. We e mailed Gonzalo, who exceeded the helpfulness we had expected. He even found a nearby place for a friend who was also travelling with us when he was full. The house is wonderful-from outside we did not know what to expect, but the corrugated outer layer hid a wonderful, huge, and stately Victorian villa. Gonzalo told us of its history, he has got the mix of retaining antique features, with all mod cons exactly right. We were SO comfortable! Breakfast was healthy and included nectarines freshly dropped from the tree in the garden, lovely scrambled eggs and plenty of great coffee. Michelle was a mine of information and knows everything that is good to see, or where to eat in Valparaiso, and helped us with reservations etc. Staying here made us feel that Valparaiso was a safe and welcoming town, quite an achievement for two females travelling independently. THANK YOU

Room Tip: All rooms are doubles, but huge beds , if travelling with a friend rather than a partner!

We really enjoyed our stay at Voga Exclusive Guest House. The house is absolutely stunning- impeccable decor and beautiful guest rooms. The owners are very hands-on with guests- they were consistently available to help us make plans for the day and reservations. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty- scrambled eggs, fresh bread, fruit, meats and cheeses. I highly recommend a trip to the restaurant 'Espiritu Santu' for dinner and the walking tour. Both were AMAZING!

It is worth noting that the guest house is perched atop a very high hill. You must be comfortable walking up and down hills to get around or paying for taxis to go pretty much anywhere. The other thing that caught us slightly off-guard is that we had to pay for our stay in cash- as of October they were not accepting credit cards.

This is pretty much a prefect place to stay and ticks just about all the boxes.

We arrived by taxi and the exterior of the building does look somewhat ordinary. However, once inside you can see that a great deal of effort has been made with the design of the interior. The rooms are large and spacious with high ceilings and there is much Victorian charm throughout.

We had a room on the first floor that gave us a view out across the city to the right and a sea view straight ahead. The room was large and very comfortable.

The ground floors are all done out in nice parque wooden flooring whilst upstairs there are lots of exposed floorboards that have been nicely varnished with quality rugs throughout.

The bathroom was spotlessly clean and contemporary and fitted out to a high specification. All the staff including Gonzalo and his wife Anna were very friendly and helpful and were very good at recommending restaurants and things to see and do.

One of the best parts of staying here is the breakfast. There is plenty to eat which includes a fresh fruit salad and scrambled eggs (not together of course). There is also tea, coffee and fresh juice, lots of bread, yoghurt and even cake. You won't go hungry.

The location is good too. Everything can be reached on foot and restaurants are all close by. All round this is an excellent place to stay and would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Back rooms have good views or easy access to the nice garden, depending on which floor you have.

Our first stop in Chile was this great place. Right from the outset of booking months in advance, Gonzalo was very attentive to all my emails. He also arranged transport from Santiago airport with Miguel from Greeno Travel, also very attentive to our needs.

The hotel, located on Cerro Alegre and within easy walk of everything, looks not too similar from other buildings in Valparaiso, although in better state of repair. It's like a tardis on the inside though. Clearly the building has taken influences from the Victorian era, with very high ceilings, a huge wooden staircase and big wooden doors. Gonzalo and his wife have kept in keeping with the history of the building with very tastefully designed large rooms, with a touch of modernity with a definite German influence. There is a huge downstairs sitting room for guests, a lovely breakfast room and a garden area with sun deck. Upstairs, and just outside our very comfortable room, which had a sea view, there was a modern designed seating area.

Our room was large, had a very comfortable bed and a bathroom with shower and thick towels. Everything was of good quality here. The room also had a TV and free wifi.

Breakfasts were huge, very fresh and tasty and certainly set you up for the day. There were cereals, bread, cake, juice, salad, cheese, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit salad and yoghurt as well as a selection of teas and coffee. We are vegetarian and I believe there is meat if you're a meat eater.

Finally, Gonzalo, his wife, Ana, and Michelle were really lovely people who made our stay really enjoyable. There were plenty of recommendations, including literature - thanks Gonzalo, I downloaded Francisco Coloane, tours, restaurants and printing our boarding passes as well as helping arrange our transfer back to the airport with Miguel.

I know some people have had bad experiences in Valparaiso but as long as you're careful and stay out of one of the hills then I'm sure you'll be fine. The hotel is very secure and there is always someone there. For me, I felt completely safe and I found everyone we met to be really friendly. Valparaiso is a great place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate in coming back and staying in Voga and in recommending it to anyone.
