Owner description: The amazing eastern views provided by this magnificent hilltop are some of the best in the country.

I absolutely enjoyed this place and couldn't help letting out "ohhh!"s and "ahhh!"s along the way. The view up here over the harbour is not as great as viewing from Paseo 21 de Mayo, but I still love here more. The area is filled with houses that are painted colourfully, walls that have amazing graffitis and numerous fabulous galleries. It is an absolute heaven for art lovers and photographers. Seriously do not miss going into some of the galleries - you will get to know Valparaiso from a lot more different perspectives.

We stayed in this area and loved everything about it.
The ascensor was amazing dating back to the 1800's. There are lots of pretty views and murals everywhere in this area.

This part of the city is definitely more relaxed than the hustle and bustle of the downtown area. We didn't find it was interesting and great as many others claimed it to be. Not sure if we missed out on something. We saw the graffiti art and that was amazing, however other than walking around we didn't get much else out of the trip.

Although we thought downtown was nice the charm of the city lies in the hills. We took ascensor concepcion and walked from there. Sometimes it is pretty steep but the views are always rewarding. There is something to discover around each corner. In other cities graffitis are considered proof of a run down environment, here it adds to the flavor. It certainly is a photographer's dream but truthfully, some of the picturesque buildings are in dire need of repair.
We came to Valparaiso for a day from a cruise ship and many people decided to go to Vina del Mar. We feel that if you haven't been on Cerro Concepcion you have missed the essence of Valparaiso.

If you are down by the harbour and have enough of the city's hustle and bustle, just walk or take the funicular up to cerro concepcion and chill out in one of the beautiful cafes, bars and restaurants and enjoy the view.
