My friend and everyone I met on the road told me to visit Valparaiso and even refer it as the San Francisco of Chile -- to be honest to me it's a bit off the mark (SF doesn't smell of urine almost everywhere!). But when I visited this little restaurant after going up and down the hills and those ancient "Ascensors", things all a sudden turned around. Christian (the owner?) is warm, though with language barrier (it's my problem; I don't speak any Spanish), I could feel his sincerity and hospitality. His pisco sour is topnotch and though because of the language problem and a bit of misunderstanding, I opted for the soup for appetizer instead of my all time favorite ceviche (I thought it's a seafood cream soup that I was giving my ceviche for), the cream soup of vegetable is too die for. The main course of fish is so flavorful I'd almost like to hug the chef. The overall atmosphere is warm, relaxing, yet I could see it as a perfect dating restaurant for dinner (I am having lunch). And set price is of unbelievable great value. I could fairly say that I'd be willing to come back to Valparaiso just for this restaurant, and would easily recommend to anyone who comes here to give it a try!
