Cool, hip and very comfortable. Read other reviews, but found the hotel on my cellphone GPS quite easily. And yes, the street side parking was not really a problem, though it could be due to inclined streets for those who are not familiar with stick-shift cars.

Staff - Very helpful, professional and informed.
They do everything they can to make the stay comfortable, and will gladly mark out a great walking route of the town, which I would highly recommend. Their restaurant recommendations were excellent too, as were view point recommendations.

Accommodations - excellent and comfortable
Spacious, clean, and tasteful. This is not a plush hotel with marble and gilt all over, but the lines are clean, smart and functional. Stayed at the duplex unit (loft style), and really liked it for its layout. Everything was clean and lovely. The view from the room was great and looked over the city. The breakfast included fresh pressed juice, coffee, and bread and very aligned with the spirit of the place (not overly elaborate or ornate, but just great and right). Besides, there are a ton of really nice places 2-5 minutes walking from the hotel, in case you want something more elaborate.

Location - awesome. Walking to most everything.
Good restaurants, wall art, just loved walking around town. Its an oasis in comparison to the main town area, which was a little bummer for the number of cars/buses over there and hence loud and not much fun. The hotel and surroundings are residential, old town style, and just plain nice.

Room Tip: Room 10 has a good view. But then probably all rooms do.

We were 7 Americans visiting Valpo, including a 2 year old. The hotel is new, small, and architecturally very interesting. Each of our rooms had a pleasant patio overlooking the canyon down towards the port. My patio had a wood fired hot tub.
The lobby is spacious with check-in doubling as a small bar for guests at night. The lobby is designed with a mix of natural elements that are warm and inviting. Large 2 story windows have a dramatic view of the city. The 2 year old had lots of room to wander but could not get into too much mischief.
Like all of Valparaiso the neighborhood ran right down a steep hill to the lower city. There are many good restaurants within easy walking distance and after dinner we quickly found a bar featuring a guitarist. Drank too many piscos.
In a city with lots of hotel choices Hotel Cirilo Armstrong is a very good pick. Strongly recommended.

Once you locate this property, it's a pretty cool place to stay in Valparaiso. Taxi driver had heck of a time finding this hotel. You have to have a pretty good sense of humor when it comes to locating anything in this city. Great part of town with great views. Rooms above reception do have better views. Having said that, we were in room 7 which had views of a lesser impressive part but still enchanting especially at night.
Wonderful, helpful staff, great location.
Only down side is the large population of of stray dogs outside that bark late into the evening.

I was fortunate to spend two nights at Cirilio Armstrong thanks to a friend's recommendation after her lovely visit. What a charming hotel. It's nestled in the hills of Cerro Alegre which is a lively part of the city with great restaurants and bars within close walking distance to the hotel. The hotel offers a fabulous Hot Tub option (in select ground floor rooms) which is approximate $40 USD per night but well worth it. You are able to enjoy the hot tub for 8 hours or so, overlooking the beautiful Valparaiso city views from your private deck. What a cool experience. The non ground floor hot tub rooms are mostly duplex with a living room on the ground and bed upstairs. The hotel rooms are very cool and minimally decorated similar to the hotel decor. The bathrooms are a bit small but they suffice.

In addition to the nice clean rooms this hotel offers FABULOUS service. The staff are all extremely nice, attentive and friendly. It really feels like a cozy boutique hotel in a great location of Valparaiso. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Valparaiso! Thanks Cirilio Armstrong for making my trip to Valparaiso so wonderful.

We were in Valpo (Valparaiso) for the New Year’s Eve fireworks spectacular and absolutely fell in the love with the city. With its story from its rise to riches due to the location of its port for trade to its fall from grace due to the creation of the Panama Canal, the street art and the overall bohemian cultural we could not get enough of it. And what made it even better was our stay at the Cirilo Armstrong, a hotel that is a work of art in itself. Elegantly but informally appointed, spacious two story loft style rooms with an amazing and attentive staff.

We only knew that Valpo was one of the biggest draws for New Year’s Eve for Chile and the surrounding population so we were very concerned to be caught in the crowd, the hussle and not have a perfect night. But no fear… Marcos and Elissa were there. Prior to arriving the team at Cirilo answered all of my questions and emails in a timely fashion which allowed us to plan for one of the most amazing and unforgettable New Year’s Eves ever. The bottle of champagne in the fridge to start off the evening cannot be overlooked. Thank you!

We had one of the rooms with a hot tub on our terrace and if available I highly recommend getting it. So nice to relax in the evening after a day of walking the hills and touring Valpo.

Last but not least they nailed the most important meal of the day. Each morning you were greeted with a spot at one of the large tables in the lobby with fresh juice, fresh fruit, fresh cafe, brown grain toast, cheese, ham and a fresh tart or cake of the day. Sounds normal right? This is not a buffet where you can stuff yourself. It is much closer to something you might serve yourself if you are a healthy and conscientious eater and want to get a great start to the day. Not too much breakfast but just the right amount. Perfect and with plenty of reading material at your fingertips if you like to ease into your morning prior to getting chatty with your fellow humans.

I will be back and will definitely be visiting my friends at Cirilo Armstrong!

Room Tip: Go for the rooms with the hot tubs on the balcony.

Cirilo Armstrong Hotel is a beautiful space with very comfortable rooms, a wonderful view and a fantastic location. We were travelling with small children but were made to feel welcome and at home, so lovely to have an upscale boutique hotel experience with kids. They even served breakfast in our room. Tip: Breakfast comes with tea or instant coffee but they have an espresso machine so other kinds of coffee are available on request. The area is full of fun things to do and see (and eat!) and kids happily traipsed up and down hills and stairs looking at murals and riding ascensores.

Room Tip: Suite with double bed on loft level and two singles downstairs was perfect for our family, put the k...

The location could not be better. Full of bars, restaurants around and loads to see. Even when we entered the city and our GPS got a bit crazy, we asked some people from local shops and they knew the hotel and could easily explain how to find it ( even though the roads are quite confusing there). My only comment is that they could improve by putting air con or a better fan as it gets really hot upstairs, in the bedroom. I can only imagine in the winter, how amazing and cozy is there..Overall, the toilet is really clean, the view is superb and the staff are lovely. Very nice and calm breakfast followed by lovely walk around the hotel. We are very happy we found this hotel!
ps- If you go by car make sure you tell in advance you need parking as the streets are packed and their parking is not that big either. But we did not have any problem in parking with them.
