We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our recent trip to Chile. This hotel was part of the package offered by our travel agent. The hotel fits well with the unique personality of Valparaiso. It is a colourful, quirky place full of character but also a bit grungy. Having said that it's not to everyone's taste. You either love it or hate it. Admittedly, the dog poo is off-putting.
It's the same with this hotel - full of character but don't expect the usual amenities that you would get from an international hotel chain. Our room had a spectacular view of the port and ocean and that was probably the best aspect of it. The furniture, decorations and linens were all from a different time (think vintage) which I found rather charming.
Breakfast was OK but not fantastic. There was certainly a lot of food provided consisting mainly of cheese, cold meats and breads and pastries. The way they do eggs in Chile as we discovered is a bit different from home so adjust your expectations.More
