“what a shame!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

This restaurant is in the best location on the harbor in downtown Valparaiso, Chile. It has great views, a nice interior, friendly staff and poor food. Pil-Pil Shrimp is supposed to be cooked in lot's of garlic. The 4 pre-cooked shrimps served were dipped in oil without garlic! The salmon avocado appetizer was dry, cooked salmon with avocado. The fried squid with a nice but very thick batter, included parts of squid I didn't know existed. The fish soup was copious, at least the bowl was full, but lacked flavor. All the above is served at very high prices!

“Great interior, great view, so so food”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

It's in the heart of the harbor and runs like classic, formal restaurants in Chile, waiters in black writing down to the last bit. The view of the harbor can be impressive. It used to be that you weren'' allowed to take pictures (you could be a spy...). The food was average, at best, not cheap either. Service was, nevertheless, very good. One big advantage is that it's of very easy access and everybody knows it. The parafernalia on the walls is remarkable.

“the best razor clam parmesan in valparaiso”
Reviewed October 28, 2011

old style valparaiso restaurant, very classical, great view of the port since you are actually in the port. service is very good, almost theatrically so. there is no beating their razor clams parmesan, a dozen per person on our visits is not uncommon.

“buena vista, mala comida”
Reviewed June 8, 2010

the bote salvavidas is a place with an mazing view to the pacific, but the food is overpriced and bad.... only desserts worth it but the seafood is not totally fresh and regular dishes are boring and not tasty. only for a drink at the terrace.
