“A hidden Japanese restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2012

I discoved this fantastic Japanese restaurant, known mainly by the Japanese community (this is the best indication that the food they serve is typical Japanese, and therefore GOOD).
All their menu is good, and of course Very Fresh.
Attention is nice and frendly, and personnel very much considerate.

“they appeared to be sitting on their reputation, expensive and gas station quality food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2011

I had heard about Japon restaurant for years and years, a pioneer in Chile, etc etc true japanese restaurant.

I actually went with some friends who have been going for a long time
and we all came away very disappointed (myself especially, since I picked up the check):

Thursday night
we got a nice position in front of the sushi chefs
watching them do their work
they seemed very conscientious about their work, and proclaimed everything to be fresh fresh, no frozen.
but the taste was of thawed tuna, and the hot dishes were a cut below standard.
we asked again if they were using previously frozen fish,
no, fresh, fresh.
ok, if you say so.

then they prepared as a special thing an inedible plate for us.
it felt rude, but we just couldn't eat it.

then the bill, about 150 USD for three
on a regular dinner,
deeply unsatisfying

we did watch the spectacle of the glass fish display cabinet cleaning.
very thorough

I'm sure it once was great,
but definitely not any more

“Excellent sushi in a japanese atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2010

I always go here when I'm in Santiago and have taken all my coworkers who love sushi too. I've tried sashimi, sushi the japanese dish that comes in a box, and always it's been excellent and so fresh. I usually sit at the bar and interchange a few words with the chefs. Even though I sometimes don't go for months they always remember me and where I come from. It's also nice to see them prepare the food and to see the cleanliness with which they do so.
The only thing that they don't surprise you with is desert. Don't save space for desert just eat sushi.
