Just try a Lomito....there's a reason this place has been opened for such a long time and continuously counted as one of the top attractions in Santiago. Superb!

I just don't like meat with a lot of fat but the resto f my family loves the place. Service is fast and restaurant is certainly popular.

It is the most typical spot in Santiago. The chacarero sandwich is awesome. Very inexpensive and it is fun to see the ladies working on front of you.

The sandwiches are big and savory. I tried the churrasco italiano with chucrut and it was amazing. It was very full during lunch hour and it was difficult to sit down. Worth the wait for a typical chilean sandwich.

Having lived in Santiago for two years, I've eaten my share of churrasco/lomito sandwiches. While the Fuente Alemana definitely makes their own tasty version, I don't really see what the hype is about other than their sandwiches are huge. I think that there are probably dozens of other places around the city that are capable of making a sandwich that's just as good (if not a bit smaller), but for some reason everybody says this place is a must-go. It's also bar-style seating (aka, no tables), so be prepared to hover along the outer walls if you come in a group of friends.

Bottom line: If you're only passing through Santiago for a short time this is probably the best place to go for the authentic Chilean experience, but it's not necessarily something to write home about!
