The itinerary for this tour couldn't be any better. After an hour out of Santiago you arrive in Vina del Mar, just north of Valparaiso and get to see some of the local sites, step in front of a moai from Easter Island, see a floral clock, and check out the amazing fish market. From there it's off to Valparaiso for both a road tour and walking tour of the local neighborhoods and also for a tasty lunch (optional, if you don't want to eat at the restaurant you don't have to, but it is a treat). The day in Valparaiso concludes with a ride down the funicular to the main square then it's off you go. But before returning to STGO you make a special stop at Veramonte winery and taste a couple of their vintages. It's very good.
Our tour guide Frank (well, Francisco), a teacher by trade, was incredibly knowledgeable and was a wealth of facts and stories about what we were viewing. He did a very fine job keeping our diverse group entertained.
One plus for this tour was that the van picked you up and dropped you off at your hotel, you didn't have to go to some central meeting area. All in all this was a very worthwhile activity.
