Really gorgeous building and decor. The entrées were quite good as well, but the main dish not quite. A bit expensive and flavorless (we ate seafood, it might be that the french dishes are different).
Do recommend if you have extra time, but only to enjoy a tea at Salon de Té, or maybe if you want to get your beard and hair done on a 1930's elegant barbershop :).

The ambiance is unique, the food excellent, the experience memorable. This is a one of a kind restaurant, where you can sit under chandeliers made of old beauty parlor hair dryers and where you can use a mirrored trap door in order to find the restrooms. Lots of history, located in an older section of Santiago, Boulevard Lavaud offers an interesting counterpoint to the Providencia and Vitacura scene. We had seafood dishes that were delicious. Service was very good.

I recommend this restaurant both for lunch during the week and for lunch on weekend or dinner in the evening. It is interesting to combine with a walk in the neigbourhood. The restaurant is decorated with old retro furniture and objects. Children also like to discover this place. You can sit downstairs or upstairs and if you are in a group you can choose to be in your own dining room. If you come by car there is a parking close by and if you come by metro is is only a short walk.
I have had both fish and meat hear and also dessert. The quality is good and the style is French/Chilian.

The streets of the Yungay neighborhood in Santiago where la Peluqueria Francesa (French Hair Salon) and the Restaurant Boulevard Lavaud are located is an area more or less close to the center that seems much more to a neglected area within the city. Fortunately the two floor corner building, where you can find the restaurant and the hair salon/ barber shop, has been well maintained and gives a little bit of life to all that is seen around. The hair salon/barber shop with a different entrance but with transparent glasses to the entrance of the restaurant, which opened in the same place circa 1925, maintains the authenticity of old days with the tall old chairs, the ceramic washbasins and the standing hair dryers.
The bar-restaurant Boulevard Lavaud with an exceptional scenery mixing, in an eclectic combination of elements, different old wooden pieces of furniture, frames and mirrors matching recycled 60’s hair dryers as hanging lamps, different chandeliers and wall lamps form the decoration of the place, creating a charming warm ambience divided into different spaces. One of the surprises that you can have is that to get into the toilet you have to enter through an old wooden wardrobe with legs and a mirror door as a film-like fantasy. Clearly just for the Mise en Scène it does worth the visit.
I went to lunch there with some friends who wanted to show me something different in Santiago. The food was good but I was disappointed as in the menu it did appear a long list of different meats with different sauces, and as at that moment I felt like having a piece of steak, I ask to the waiter that I liked the meat very rare and he insisted that due to legislation they could only serve it medium, so I ended up eating a piece of breaded conger that was not exactly what I wanted. As a first course we had a mixed Ceviche of salmon and pompfred that was good and as dessert we shared an Espresso Chocolate: black chocolate (could have been bitter) and amaretto covered with white chocolate mousse.
The waiter was quite friendly and explained us some of the upcoming projects in the neighborhood: another restaurant and a scenic arts theater, so probably in the near future it will be a livelier corner. He also gave us a biannual journal published by them to take home with the menu, deserts, wines and drinks, a map noting the important buildings in the area and a small revue on them, with also interesting stories about the neighborhood and of the people that lived there in old times; quite nice.
