“The best little barrio, better than Bella”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

Go to Lastarria in the evenings or on weekends if you can because that's the time it really picks up and antique stands along side book sellers, artists and musicians fill the streets. The Museum of Visual Arts is a great little museum off the beaten path. It's just behind the cafes and has a great collection of contemporary chilean art along with an archaeological museum. Strange combination but it works very well. In the building just opposite the museum go up to the second floor and check out the co-op of independent fashion designers. Pass by El Biografo, great 80s art house theatre, and have dinner at probably the best restaurant in the neighborhood, Sur Patagonico. Known for it's meat and fish dishes accompanied by great chilean wines and micro brews it as a red exterior and is difficult to miss. Keep your eyes peeled for El Anticristo, Santiago's most famous vagabond. He's often seen in this neighborhood selling eccentricities and ranting his mad genius.

We were introduced to Lastarria while attended the walking tour, and we returned to explore it more on our own. Great place to stroll check out the bars and restaurants. Don't miss it.

“Walk around in Lastarria”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

and enjoy the nice setting, the quiet, the pretty houses and shops, the restaurants, etc. It is worth doing this. We came from the National Library, walked over the hill, enjoyed a great view of the city. It was a lovely experience.

“Really nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2013

This is an old neighborhood with loots of nice restaurants and bars for a drink and food to sit outside. Lots of interesting people to watch and street artists. The barrio is pretty secure due to high police presence. If you come to Santiago its definitely a place to see.
