“Amazing hotel and staff”
Reviewed February 9, 2014 via mobile

We spent a night here whilst traveling through Santiago and were blown away by our experience. The hotel itself was beautiful, the room was great and the breakfast was the best we had in our whole stay in South America. The juice/coffee/snack table is available all day and it all felt so luxurious. Every member of staff was amazing to us, we needed to send emails and make phone calls during our stay and the staff were more than accommodating, helping us in every way. They also suggested fantastic things to do around the city and helped us get around to where we needed to go. I would recommend this hotel to anybody, great value for money, amazing staff, it may be the best hotel experience I have ever had.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights total during our trip to Chile, and it was by far our favorite place. The service is wonderful and friendly. Anything we needed was promptly provided. The rooms are cute, clean, and comfortable, and the breakfast every morning was delicious. It is nice to stay in a place where the comfort of the guests seems to truly be their top priority.

The Carmenere is a small boutique hotel in a leafy garden setting close to the sights of Santiago. It has a really comfortable home-like ambience, a quiet location (we were able to sleep with the windows open!), an excellent breakfast (including freshly cooked chilean eggs, dulce de leche crepes and home made peach tart) and is scrupulously clean. There are a number of good restaurants within reasonable walking distance and many others will deliver which means that you can eat in the delightful garden. However, what made it really special for my wife and I during our all-too-short stay was the excellent, attentive service from the staff, all of whom spoke perfect English and were extremely helpful. Our flight was not until late at night and the manager very kindly extended us a late check out so we were able to have a siesta and a shower before leaving. Strongly recommended. We can't wait to return!

Room Tip: We had an upstairs room overlooking the garden which was very peaceful and enjoyed a lovely green ou...

We arrived in Santiago to find most people do not speak the language + taxis don't know their side streets. So it took awhile to find this little gem. I counted 5 rooms-1 with a patio to the garden in the back. The staff, Clare (Australian) and Caty (Californian) were so helpful, i could not have managed without them. Our rooms were very comfortable-this is not a big 5 star, but that's not what we need. We want clean, good value, nice, helpful people, a comfortable king size bed and a TV that works, free wi fi. And we got all of that, in a very cute neighborhood. Walking distance to San Cristobal park-Neruda's home and bellavista patio.

Room Tip: The ground floor patio room seemed nice. We were just above them. Our friend was in the front and 1...

Just far enough off the main artery in central Santiago to give this very special boutique hotel a wonderful homelike atmosphere. Maria is just like a member of the family, always around with lovely little extra touches. The back terrace and garden are wonderful, either for relaxation or to get a little work done. Unless there is some particular reason to stay at one of the big hotels, I can't imagine a better place to stay in Santiago.

I am not waiting to get home to write this review. I am sitting in the lovely living room of this small boutique hotel (5 rooms) on the afternoon of my departure from Santiago. Feels like I'm sitting in the home of a welcoming good friend. The staff here cannot not do enough to help make your stay the most enjoyable. English is most definitely spoken here. Mimi, Kathy and Clare are from the US and Australia and speak Spanish like natives. Back garden is greatest feature, wonderful place to chill after long day of touring. Breakfast is delicious!

We had two nights at the Carmenere which we found through TA. We had a charming little ground floor room with direct access and a terrace to the lovely designed backyard garden. The whole place is a sanctuary and gave us a homelike, safe and quiet feeling that we enjoyed a lot after exploring the busy and hot streets of STGO only blocks away. The breakfast is absolutely great, in fact the best we had in our three weeks in Southamerica. The quality of the products they use is outstanding and my wife had a loveaffair with the organic orange jam. But the best about the place: the staff and their obvious love for what they do. Thank you so much, it was a great pleasure meeting you guys! If there is anything to improve, depending on the time of the year, an aircon would have been nice instead of the fan - but is no must.
