“Best way to see highlights of the city in an afternoon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

Jose Miguel is an excellent tour guide! I did the afternoon tour with 2 of my friends. We covered so much in 3 hours! All the highlights of the city. It was very informative and Jose Miguel gave excellent recommendations. I highly recommend planning this for an afternoon!

“Excellent - must do”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

Thank you Camille for a great morning and Jose-Miguel for a terrific afternoon! We did both tours on offer, the off-beat Santiago and the more traditional historical one. We did both in one day and were knackered by the end but it's a tribute to how engaging and brilliant the tours were that we considered this the best day we had in Santiago. If you only have time for one: go for the more traditional, the way it's advertised it sounds a bit stuffy and uncool compared to the "offbeat" tour but they do themselves down on this: the tour is a real education about the city, past and present and there's no beating around the bush when it comes to covering the more unpleasant remnants of Pinochet's time in power: absolutely fascinating.

The offbeat tour has less to it but is great fun if you have a spare morning. Both our guides were really friendly and knew their stuff down to the ground. Similar to the Valparaiso tour, we lived off the suggestions we got here for the rest of our time in the city so it's an absolute must for people who haven't been here before, or people wanting the inside scoop.

“I recommend these tours for anyone interested in getting a first hand look at real Chilean history, culture, and daily life”

We did both tours offered by Tours 4 Tips and thought they were fantastic. Our tour guide Jose Miguel was awesome and spoke English very well. He pointed out sights and took us places no tour bus would be able to go. It's three hours of walking but goes by super fast. Definitely worthwhile and worth the money

“Walking through Santiago”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2013

There are two different tours in Santiago: one in the morning, which is about the hidden part of Santiago: markets, habits, etc. and one in the afternoon, a bit more "touristic".
I have done both the tours with two different Wallys: Miguel in the morning and Felipe in the afternoon. They both are entusiastic about the city and they gave me a lot of infos about the city, the best places where to go to eat, to have a drink or to buy anything.
Of course in only 3 hours/tour they have not enough time to show every single interesting spot of the city. Nevertheless, these tours are the best way to have a first approach to the city and to have an idea of what is worth of a visit and what not. Or, if you do not have so much time to spend in Santiago, they are still a good way to visit the city from a different point of view.

“You Get What You Pay For”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2013

This is a free tour so don't expect too much. The best thing about it is meeting other travellers.
The guide was nice enough, a lovely girl named Romy who worked really hard for her tips (which I believe she doesn't even actually receive as she receives a wage and the tips you give go to the owner - not very fair in my book)
The tour itself was ok, its very basic stuff .. but still, Romy was enthusiastic and somewhat informative.
I had been in Santiago for over a month and joined the tour only to go accompanied to the cemetery (which is part of the morning tour)
This tour is only good for the most budget conscience and time-poor travellers.
