MariLu is very willing to answer questions, and will go out of her way to find the answer if she does not know. Breakfast was good- avocado, cereal, bread, jams, cheese, meat, coffee, juice, cookies. Rooms were clean in this small hostel. Stayed here initially, went to southern Chile, and stayed again on our way north.

The heart of Marilu's Bed and Breakfast is Marilu herself. She is a friendly, knowledgeable proprietor who makes sure to explain all you need to know about the large and lively city of Santiago. After fifteen years of serving a world-wide clientele, she can answer just about any question you can ask. In our case, she even looked up the subway opening times for the holidays, and guided us to an excellent local car rental place around the corner.

With an excellent location in Providencia, and good access to both transit and the river walk system, we found Marilu's the ideal base for discovering Santiago. The city is safe to walk day or night, with clean and well lit streets and sidewalks.

Breakfasts were simple and hearty, with a chance to discuss the day with Marilu in either English or Spanish.

Highly recommended!

Room Tip: We found room A4 to be absolutely silent at night. No traffic noise at all. Remarkable.

I can't say enough good about Marilu's B & B. Where to start....she is centrally located in the heart of Providencia (a central area of Santiago), within walking distance to both the subway and the popular Bellavista area as well as nearby parks. Marilu's is in a safe and nice neighborhood. The Hostel is small and clean - if you want fancy stay at the Hilton. All together there are 4 rooms - two rooms to rent with bathroom and 2 rooms that share a single common bathroom. We stayed there several nights throughout our travels around Chile always returning to Marilu's. The shared bath was never a bother nor inconvenience. Each room is a decent size with a TV, room fan, the windows open for air and the beds are comfortable. There is an open air courtyard in back that we liked to sit and visit with the other guests.

Breakfast was Chilean standard B&B fare - bread buns with meat, cheese and avocado with jams of course.

The real gem is Marilu herself. The lady speaks several languages including English, French, and of course Spanish. Upon our arrival she warmly greeted us and welcomed us to her hostel. Marilu had free maps and brochures of Santiago available for us and gladly provided us with directions and advice on how to get around Santiago and beyond. She is a treasure trove of information; providing direction on how often the trains run north/south of Santiago, how to drive to Valparaiso, and was very helpful booking a rental car, taxi's or collectivo's or anything that you need. She truly does care about her guests. Marilu even waited outside with us on our last day until the collectivo picked us up - just to make sure things went well. I don't know how Marilu manages to be so sincere and caring to everyone but she really is. We travelled extensively throughout Chile and I can honestly say that Marilu's was one of the best places we stayed at. Excellent service and good value for your money.

We used Marilu's suggestion on car rental - Universal right around the corner from her place and saved about 50% compared to the Airport. Can be pre-booked on-line and confirmed in person upon your arrival.

My favorite craft market was Pueblito de los Dominicos for handmade leather and artisan made goods. Another good market for souvenirs is Feria Santa Lucia. Remember you can barter to about 10% off sticker price.

Marilu's B&B is a very wel located, small and cozy B&B in Santiago. Between 2 metro stations, in a ground floor of a small building at Providencia; Marilu, who personally takes care of everything, runs the hostel where the rooms are sterling clean, breakfast is very ok for a B&B, and she will help you with everything! I highly recomend!

Room Tip: Marilu has 5(?) rooms. I stayed in the two private rooms that opens to the back terrace, A3 and A4...

I stayed at Marilu's Bed & Breaksfast in Oktober 2012 and was really good. I was in Santiago for business for two weeks and then did a little bit of travelling and always came back to Marilu. Marilu is very nice and makes you feel at home. She really cares for her guests and always helps you to make the best of your stay in Chile. She also was a great help while I caught a cold. She also let me store parts of luggage with her so that I didn't have to take everything with me on my trips around the country.
I stayed in two different rooms. Both were clean and nice. The beds are very comfortable. I used a shared bathrooms, but as it was only shared by two rooms you barely noticed that is is shared bath. The breakfast is really great - cereal, cheese, ham, jams, bread, always fresh avocado and coffee and orange juice. As a guests you can also use the kitchen, e.g. putting you own staff in the refrigerator or use the microwave. That is really good if you stay over a longer time as I did.
The location of the B&B is very comfortable as well. It is located in quiete and safe neighborhood of Provedencia and it only takes you a couple of minutes to reach the metro station, a super market and several restaurants.

My wife and I stayed at Marilu's this past week and found it to be a very nice experience. The location is quite good between 2 subway stops and it is easy to catch the subway or a bus to whereever you want to go in the city. Marilu is a wonderful host, very helpful and accomodating. We were in Santiago for Dieciocho celebrations and she gave us great advice on where to go and what to do since the city was "cerrado"!! I would highly recommend anyone to stay at Marilu's if they are looking for a reasonably priced and centrally located launch point for exploring Santiago!

This was our second time staying with Marilu. Actually, this time it was our parents that stayed here, not us. But Marilu welcomed us all in -- even offering my husband and I breakfast (even though we were not actually staying with her ourselves. We had our apartment to stay in.) Marilu was absolutely wonderful - as usual. She helped us A LOT with a situation we had with lost luggage. She spent hours helping us on the phone and typing up letters. She is simply amazing.
Her place is small, but full of heart. She speaks English, Spanish, and French. You will have to share a bathroom if you stay here, but I have never found that be a problem. Nice, quiet and safe neighborhood in Santiago. You will not regret staying here. I've made 2 very good friends with folks I met staying at Marilu's. If you do stay there, tell her Harry and Sally say hello! :)
