“nice construction”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

with a good space dedicated to Violeta Parra, chilian singer and poetess which is very important in popular culture in Chile, and another destined to a temporary exhibition (when we went there was a exhibition on Sebastian Matta's work)... so, at the end, I think it's interesting if you want to understand more some chilian culture aspects!

“great tour, only in Spanish”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

Book a tour sending an email to visitas@presidencia.cl to the interior of this palace, where Chilean president work. It's almost 40 minutes of explanation, but as long as I know it's only in Spanish - what may be disappointing to other tourists. Brazilians can understand, since the guide is prepared to attend them.
Also check the time for the change of guards in front of the palace. it happens in alternate days, always at 10 am.

“Nice Museum, Good Rest Stop”
Reviewed May 2, 2012

Centro Cultural Palacio La Moneda is a relatively new contemporary art space located on the south side of the Palacio de la Moneda, a block north of O’Higgins near the La Moneda metro stop. It is entirely underground and the glass ceiling provides a diffuse natural light source for the main canyon of the facility. When my wife and I visited there was a yoga class going on in the main area and combined with the hanging artwork, cafes, shops around the perimeter it created a really pleasant atmosphere. It was quiet and tranquil like a museum without being stuffy and oppressive. Since its free in the mornings and it makes for a nice break on your walking tour of Santiago, duck in for quick snack or coffee. And there are separate gifts shops for each price point.

The galleries branch off from the main area and depending the exhibit you may or may not care to visit them. Best to check what’s showing ahead of time on their website at http://www.ccplm.cl/sitio/

But note that the English language version and the Spanish language version give different opening hours. In English, it did not seem that the Centro was open on Saturday! But the Spanish has it correct and it is indeed open on weekends.

Anyway, on our visit we really liked the main exhibits. Combined with the overall design of the space, the nice combination of services and the convenient location I would recommend this to anyway taking a day tour of Santiago.

Great arquitecture. The interest depends on whatever exhibit is running at the time.
