The recent disturbances have severely damaged a nice building and surrounding areas. The museum did not have a lot of exhibits but it would have been nice if they had some signs or perhaps a small brochure on English. The entry was free but I gladly would have paid for some English information

We drove by this beautiful building which houses their fine arts and was so saddened to see the surrounding base of the building defaced by graffiti. It's bad enough to see all the graffiti throughout South America on several buildings but to see such a beautiful historic building damaged like this. Our tour guide was quite distressed, she had not been in Santiago in a while, said that this was the work of protestors.

Firstly, I LOVE art!

While the building that houses the art collection is beautiful, that is where it all ends. The collection is appalling. It is sparse and has very little art of interest.

If you like art, don't go.

The best thing about the museum of fine arts is that it is free. The art inside is actually below average when compared to other fine arts museums in the world. The building itself is beautiful, however. The museum is connected to the museum of contemporary art which I found to be a more interesting museum.

We visited the museum the day after visiting the Museo de Precolombino. While we managed to spend 5 hours in the Museo de Precolombino, after 2 hours in this museum we felt we had seen everything.
