This is a nice museum, especially for those who enjoy sculptures. I walked there from downtown and the walk which you can after your visit extend next to the river was pleasant. I enjoyed the content of the museum, but being a bit of an architecture fan, what I enjoyed the most was the building!

This is a nice little museum. It is only 600 pesos (cheap!) and it's a lovely building. The exhibits are nice although there aren't many. You get a good feel for Chile's art history however and it's nice and quiet inside. I enjoyed the time I spent there. I got through it in a little over an hour and I saw everything. They have a nice little gift shop in the front.

As most of the museums of the world Bellas Artes is closed on Monay. Bellas Artes is an museum that is arranged to get classic education. You see the development of art in Chile also you can admire pictures of European artists.

This 20th. century building inspired by French architecture has a beautiful glass domed ceiling that lights up the interior and the works in it. It has a permanent exhibit of the best Chilean art and it usually has good temporary exhibitions of both Chilean and international artists. The Museum shop is a must and it has a nice coffee shop. The entire neighborhood houses Santiago's bohemian quarter with nice bookstores and little restaurants that you must seek out (in daylight).

Go on Sunday to get in free. Check out the homeless people who have used the entrance stairway as a home - there's ingenuity! Once inside, the interior of the building is almost as good as the exhibitions. An enormous open space atrium surrounded by a balcony above gives a wonderful atmosphere to the range of statues exhibited on the ground floor. The other individual exhibition rooms housed art that was a bit modern for our taste and somehow you got the feeling that they needed to fill the place with more choices - it all felt a bit empty and lacking atmosphere. You would think that there would be a connecting door to the adjoining museum - no you have to exit and walk round.
