One of the remaining examples of colonial Chile. The church is delightful and the museum attached is well worth the small admission fee. It has a great collection of American artists' work from the 16th century onwards.

We were blessed to find this treasure and celebrate "Navidad" on Christmas Eve this year. The Indian dancers, drums, cymbols, horns paraded in before Mass, and out afterwards.
At the Gloria, the statue of the Christ Child was carried from the enterance on raised arms to the creche, while the people sang the Gloria in Excelsis Deo from "Angels We Have Heard on High."
After Mass, people lined up to kiss the Babe's feet!
We stumbled on this beautiful place, just 2 blocks from our hotel. What a Christmas Gift!

Easy to miss unless you have specific details as to where it is, and it does not seem to feature very highly in tourist information books of brochures.
Once found, the church looks and feels like the oldest church in Santiago (which it is). Not that it is dilapidated in any significant way, but rather that it has retained its original structure, which in a sense makes it look neglected, compared to many of the other churches nearby.
Also has a small museum attached, which is open at certain hours only.

One of the oldest in Santiago, this is worth a visit. A central garden has open rooms around it that relects life during previous times.

This is a really interesting church. It may not look all that special from the outside, but inside is a good mix of styles that makes it well worth a visit and a must for any trip to Santiago.
