we took the funicular there on a Sunday. The locals were visiting, biking, and hanging. Beautiful view of Santiago. Nice pilgrimage walk up to the statue.

The view of the city was better than I expected, and I recommend going there on a clear day.

To go to the top I used the elevator (funicular) in the south entrance but note that there are many entrances in this park and each allows you to go up in a different way.
I am not sure but seems that there is a bike rental in the east gate.

Upon our arrival into Santiago we saw Cerro San Cristobel looking out over the city, and knew we had to make the trek up there to enjoy her view. The trail was clearly marked and well used, especially being a Sunday, zig-zagging it's way to the top. Just beneath her lies a beautiful garden, well maintained. We sat on the steps beside her and admired the view, although was a little hazy (typical of Santiago). Worth the trek!

A good outdoor option in Santiago. We found the walk up pleasant and full of good scenery. Mass was on in the small chapel so we popped our head in to see that taking place too.

We caught the train down - which meant no lines and we still got to experience the views from the train too.

It is quite a steep hill so take your time if you're not fit or walk down. It's about 3km.

In a city full of sightseeing, I would probably rate this as average - but compared to other sites in Santiago I'd say this is a must do.

This is very peaceful spot . You can enjoy entire Santiago scenery .
Most of tourists were waiting for Cable car , and take mo re 30 mins. but if you have good sports shoes, you can walk to the top via trail.
