The ascensor was not working at all. Took a colletivo to the top and walked down. Very smoggy. Lots of very aggressive bikers. You do not want to get in their way downhill. Would have been nice if not so smoggy.

A wonderful expereince, but I recommend going early. There are hundreds of cyclists and no cars before 9 (very few before 11).
In addition to the main summit, which is full of tourists , there are a couple of slightly lower ones only accessible by bikeor on foot (and very few go there).also two swimming pools, where you can relax before cycling down again.

When we visited the funicular was under maintenance and the bus wasn't running either so we have to take a taxi. Poor system for getting people up there. Once we got up there teh view is nice and you can see most of the city.

There are a lot of attractions there. You can visit the zoo, climb the hill in a lift or walking, buy souvenirs, pray if you like etc.
You will have a nice view of Santiago from the top of the hill. I took hundreds of pictures there.
There are a lot of restaurants very close to the hill.
If you're vising Santiago, this is a nice place to visit.

The funicular was not working so I had a great walk up and back. The woods were beautiful and smelled great. It was fun seeing the swimming pool, Japanese Garden etc. on the way up. I am not religious so was underwhelmed by the huge statue and seating area where the Pope spoke. The view is panoramic but not as interesting as Santa Lucia.

Thank Catherine c
