“My favourite spot in Santiago”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

My favorite spot in Santiago is the Parque Metropolitano and -among its hills- the Cerro San Cristóbal. Next to the zoo one can take a funicular or cable train to the peak of the hill, although some athletic minded youths do cycling or jogging all the way up. On top of the Cerro there is a Virgin statue, a chapel and of course souvenirs stores. From the terraces one can enjoy the best view of the city, and unfortunately watch the air pollution that still plagues Santiago.
Years ago I also enjoyed taking the teleférico, a cable car to another hill, but this service has been suspended for safety reasons.

“A lovely View of this City”

Beyond description; a must in Santiago. Views are spectacular as are the flowers. It's beautiful, peaceful and serene. A wonderful way to see the city and the mountains of this special city.

“Great Views!”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

This is a must see in Santiago. An easy and short hike up the hill to a small church and St. Mary's statue from the funicular stop. I do recommend taking the funicular at least once either going up or coming down. We reached there just in time for sunset and were rewarded with the most spectacular sunset views of the city and the Andes mountain. If you can bring a tripod.
If possible go right after it has rained as you would get better views. Do wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a bottle of water.
We were slightly concerned about safety as we were still there after sunset but it seemed relatively safe and I did not feel unconformable at any point.

“Maria and a stunning view of Santiago”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

After I did a long trip to Italy I love all kinds of St.Mary`s statues and this one is most beautiful. White and shining under the blue sky- I love it. I had an enjoyable afternoon walking to Cristobal Hill and waiting for the sunset with a lot of nice people. Good atmosphere!

“Excellent view of the city”

The first place to go. People say you have to go on the afternoon, because there is a better view, and the sun is not so strong.
