Regal Pacific Hotel
Ranked #21 of 204 Hotels in Santiago
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 29, 2012

I do not know if the owners of the Regal Pacific chose "being" in Las Condes and not in "Santiago" on purpose to reach a higher position in the rankings. They are in the same area of other hotels (like the Hyatt), against which they do not compete. Las Condes, being probably a different municipality, is definitely Santiago...

That said, the hotel is a nice one, in need of some refurbishing. The rooms are ample and the breakfast is fine (i do not know the price, but don´t expect a five stars buffet). The service is very attentive.

So, if you find it for a good price, and need to be in Las Condes area of Santiago (where many companies have their headquarters), it can be a good option.

This hotel has obviously been around for a while, but the rooms were large and very comfortable. I had a suite that had a small kitchen/bar area, lounge areas seperate from the bed, which when travelling for business as I was made a big difference. The conference facilities while good were standard. Its in a good location, opposite a large multi story shopping complex and within walking distance of main restaurant area.

Regal Pacific is a very colonial style with good and sympathetic staff, with comfortable rooms and all business support.

Stayed for 3 nights pre cruise in early Feb 2012. We cannot fault this hotel in any way.
On arrival told room not ready for 30 mins so invited to have a free drink while we waited. We had room 1405 which turned out to be a mini-suite, very comfortable. Plenty of room, seating for 4, nice large bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, a godsend, and a fridge with minibar. The first night being so tired we decided to eat in the hotel. Well, what a surprise. Superb, succulent fillet mignon, cooked to perfection, and at reasonable prices. £39 for 2 and that included 4 beers. Breakfast was again nicely presented. Could have been a little bit warmer, but had a very good variety. Something for everyone's taste. Around the hotel, the metro station was next door, across the road was 'Big John's minimarket, which could supply most of our requirements, and 100 yards away was a large shopping mall with a large eating area on the first floor. We also managed to find our way to a Post Office, again not far from the hotel. We had an included city tour which was quite interesting and the following day an excursion to Concha y Torro Vineyard, but for us the most interesting part of this tour was the journey through the countryside. On our last day our transfer to Valparaiso didn't turn up, but the staff at reception were really helpful and got things sorted out for us. All in all a wonderful visit to a nice city with a top class hotel.

I've no idea how much the rooms cost as we were there as part of a package. The downstairs has the appearance and feel of a top class hotel. Upstairs the rooms are clean but look a bit shabby, some of the stains on the carpet looked interesting. The staff, to a man and woman are helpful and pleasant and most speak very good English. In the restaurant they serve both an a la cart and a set table menu, both of which we tried, and both were excellent. They also offer a happy hour menu, which consists of a buffet, which we didn't try but looked good. There is also a fitness centre and a tiny pool plus free internet access. Although the hotel is located in what looks like a business district, and is quite a long way outside Santaigo, it is only about 100Metres from the subway. Fairly new, the subway is clean, cheap, fast and seems very safe. It costs about £3 to get into the centre of the city and takes about twenty minutes. Outside the hotel there is a smallish shopping mall and a fairly large supermarket. There is also a decent park about twenty minutes walk from the hotel. Outside the hotel we felt very safe and most of the Chileans we met, even though most don't speak English tried to be very helpful. We would stay here again.

I had the pleasure of spending a week here in January, the staff are all friendly with a good level of English. The food in the restaurant is great quality and beautifully presented. Rooms could do with a bit of an update, but they are clean and comfortable.

The hotel is great if you are on business at the nearby Offices, not a place to stay for sightseeing, it's a bit of a trip to the city.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front give best views of the mountains. I was on the back and only had a view from my b...

It was the first time we visited Santiago. This hotel is literally right next to the subway/metro station. It's very convenient if you are the explorer type and don't mind getting around using the subway. Across the street of the hotel have a couple of decent shopping malls and little stores/cafes. One block from the hotel is a large supermarket (Lider). Very convenient location. However, it's not very close to all the tourist attractions, which are mostly located in the Santiago downtown area. It was fine for us as it's only about US$1 for one way subway ticket to go anywhere...

The hotel itself is a bit small. Lobby is small. Reception area is small. It's also a bit dated. It still has excellent service though - like, they still have nightly turn down service that most hotels don't have.... or give you a shoe cloth to clean your shoes... which I rarely see in hotels nowadays. Hotel breakfast is okay. They have a few hot items (eggs, pancakes, sausages, bacon), some fruits (strawberries will not be replaced once it's emptied... which other fruits will be replaced), toasts, some ham, juice, tea, coffee, etc.

We do not speak spanish and fortunately that is 1 staff on duty that can speak OK english, and we were able to communicate with her well.

Initially they charge us extra when we checked out, but after checking the bill vs. our original estimates, they were able to fix the charge.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone - but please expect the dated decor...
