“Perfectly adequate stopover”
Reviewed January 9, 2010

We stayed here on two occasions around Christmas on transit through Santiago. Each stay was just one night from late afternoon to fairly early morning, so we only used the room and breakfast. Our experience here was what you expect in a three-star hotel. A comfortable, clean but simple room and generally good service without huge amenities. The pillows were kinda flat and I thought the bed was a little squishy. Check-in and out was very fast. Breakfast was a buffet with a strange lack of larger plates (even when asked for). We placed an order for a very early cab - it was executed flawlessly.

While this is a decent, good value hotel, if you're used to four-star and above luxury, it's probably not for you. The first night we came here, we were disappointed since we had been at some luxury hotels. On our second stay, we had stayed in less-than-ideal locations and found the place to be great.

* Nice room, not too big, but we weren't inside during the day, so no problem
* Classy style when walking through the hallways and ding at the restaurant
* Good food at the restaurant
* Great snacks & sandwiches at the pool bar
* Cocktail card
* Pool is very small and there's only room for 3 sunbeds and 3 small tables, but for cooling of in the hot city, it's ideal!
* On foot you're in the center in just a few minutes

Spent 3 nights here in August 2009. Perhaps I was spoiled by an excellent hotel in Argentina for the 2 previous days but I did not find the hotel as good as expected.
It was however a perfectly adequate 4 star hotel in a very convenient downtown location.
The good points include cleanliness, exceptionally comfortable beds and good quality bedding. The not so good points were very slow wifi (admittedly free but I´d rather pay and have something that works), water that didn´t get really hot, air conditioning not switched on (may be winter but outside afternoon temperatures were over 25 degrees) and a rather indifferent breakfast buffet- good fresh fruits yes but the scrambled egg had a srange taste and the bacon was exceptionally smokey. There also seemed to be a lot of conference business meaning that the public areas of the hotel were frequently full of delegates on coffee breaks. Also who wants to swim in a pool which is effectively part of the bar?
It´s a pity there isn´t a half point category on here as it really deserves 3.5 out of 5.

Excellent, good service, clean room, breakfast varied with fruits of the region, that more I liked was the beds and marvellous sheets that not to make want to go out from the bed. Location in the very good centre for dislocation. Completed more than four stars. I recommend.

Although I was with a tour party, there were only 16 in the group. The staff were friendly , very accommodating and the service in the restaurant was good. The food was good, wine cellar very good and not overly priced.
Breakfast is a buffet and there is a wide choice of cereals, fresh fruit, ham and cheeses and even sausage, egg and bacon.
There is a very attractive open air pool and bar area next to the restaurant on the 5th floor
where they serve hot or coldsnacks, beer and a variety of cocktails including a pleasant "pisco sour". Sometimes during the day and evenings you are entertained with live music.
Unfortunately, it's a small area around the pool and when local businesses are running their seminars there it tends to become packed with attendees during their break and in need of a smoke.
The bedroom was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was clean, although there appears to be a shortage of wash-basin plugs in South America ,as I found absence of same in some of the other hotels in which I stayed in both Argentina and Brazil.
The hotel is well placed downtown and close to a pedestrianised shopping precinct. It is only one block from the main boulevard ,Bernardo O'Higgins Av. There is a very nice park within walking distance (Santa Lucia)
Internet and email facilities are free.

The Hotel Galerias offers excellent value with a South American flair. The staff was friendly and it was within walking distance of many historical attractions and pedestrian shopping districts. The buffet breakfast was included and offered a wide selection of choices. The rooms were nicely refurbished and the bedding was great. Our room was nice and quiet even though the hotel was in the center of the city. They are also not strict at all about check-out and our room was ready at 9 AM when we arrived.

I went to Santiago in the middle of January 09, and I stayed at Hotel Galerias. In general, this hotel had everything I needed for my 2 weeks stay. A great security staff, you always feel save in the Hotel. The hotel is located one block away the Alameda Avenue, one of the important avenues of the Center of Santiago.

The room was comfortable. A nice bed, to sleep comfortable. It had mini bar in the room, nice bathroom. Great view at the 10th floor. I liked to have dinner at the Hotel restaurant. The food was very good. In general, a nice place to stay.

The only bad thing, was the internet connection. It was slow during the time I stayed there. Sometimes, there was no connection all night. Internet is very important for me, so this was disgusting for me to dont have connection at night. I dont know why it was like that. It is a wireless connection. This is the 3th time I stayed there, everything good, beside the internet connection.
