“Great location for a quick tour of Santiago”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We had an unexpected <1 day layover in Santiago so we chose this hotel based on its convenient location. It's very easy walking distance to a lot of the major sights.

The hotel was very comfortable and had an excellent wi-fi internet connection in the room.

Stayed January 2013, traveled as a couple

I stayed at this hotel twice - in the begining of my holidays in Chile and two weeks later, on my last days of holidays.
The location is central, close to Palacio de la Moneda y Plaza de Armas, shops, restaurants and two subway stations. But after 21:00 everything is closed nearby.
The breakfast is very good (selfservice with lots of choices and also plenty of fruits) BUT They do not serve breakfast early enough for people with an early flight out (don't even provide "boxes" as the other hotels do).
The rooms - the first one I stayed in was ok - quiet and clean, with wifi.
The second one was very good - spacious, quiet and with all the usual amenities such as a hair dryer, but with no wifi. I had go to the comon zone (corridor) to get wifi or use the public computor.
I would stay in this Hotel again.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing your comments with the TripAdvisor community. Our hotel is indeed very centrally located and although there are no restaurants or bars within walking distance open after 9 PM, you can take a taxi and after a very short ride you can be in the middle of the Santiago nightlife.

Regarding our breakfast, we will make sure to pass your comments to the appropriate department.

Thanks for staying with us and we truly hope to see you back in the near future.

Very best,

I stayed at this hotel during a one night layover in Santiago. I arrived in the morning and was able to check into my room even though it was before checkin time. The staff at the reception was very informative as to my options to tour the city that same day and could even sell me a ticket to the Hop on Hop off bis right there and direct me to a close stop. It has a pool, and a gym as well. They offered a complimentary pisco sour on the evening of my arrival. They do not serve breakfast early enough for people with an early flight out. The room was spacious, quiet and clean and with all the usual amenities such as a hair dryer, free wifi, minibar etc. The location is in a good neighborhood and also close to shops, restaurants and two subway stations. I would stay here again.

This hotel has everything you expect in a good city hotel which is why I rated it very good though it only just gets there. The location is central and walking is easy.
When we were there, the city was cold and wet but for some reason the hotel heating did not come on till 8pm.
The best thing was Katherina in reception - unlike most people there she spoke english and went out of her way to make sure everything was OK (except the heating!).
All other staff were distant and not very happy.

We recently stayed in the Panamericano but unfortunately like a couple of other reviews it was while there were public holidays and everything around was closed.
The reception and staff did not speak much English but we were able to check in with no problems. The staff were a bit impersonal compared to the other Hotels we stayed in throughout South America. Rooms were spacious enough though dark but were clean.
We ate Dinner in the Restaurant and my husband remarked how great the steak was. Very tasty indeed. Breakfast was good with a good selection.
Definitely a 3 star Hotel.
If you are after tours, we had organised a couple with CTS Tourism and the guide we had (Orlando) was excellent. While in Chile we visited Valparaiso and surrounding areas which was great plus a half day wine tour. It was good to do these trips because as I mentioned there was not much opened during the public holidays.

Even though any reception staff could not speak English, check in was quite easy and friendly.
Rooms are very spacious and extremely clean and equipped with every possible amenity including hairdryer, iPod dock, mini bar, good shower (tepid in early mornings though), lockable safe, extremely comfortable huge king bed, nice furnishings, double glazed windows to minimize traffic noise, 3 litres of bottled water in your room each day when staff made up room each day. The room service is fantastic with generous meals with quite a good selection and price. Breakfast was a nice continental style with beautiful scrambled egg as a hot choice. Staff in breakfast room were very well presented and friendly.
There is a sitting room with comfortable lounge style chairs to wait for your tours.
May I suggest CTS for tours in and around Santiago........couldn't fault them at all! Lots of restaurants very close by and a shopping mall which must be the longest I've ever seen, only 1 minute walk.
Would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a good clean convenient hotel in central Santiago.
We are from Australia and would possibly rate this as a 4 star property from what I've experienced in Australia. Chimu adventures booked this hotel for us and we were pleased.
You are not staying at a 5 star property so remember you shouldn't expect absolute pristine conditions.......but if you want very clean, comfortable and affordable, this will suit you. :)

This is a medium sized hotel in central Santiago, near the central business district, Government buildings etc. We stayed there as a family of three, and found the room with three single beds fairly cramped. The hotel was busy, and a little bit impersonal compared with smaller hotels we have used in South America. When we were there, everything was closed due to a public holiday, so the city centre was weirdly deserted night and day, with nothing open nearby. The location would be okay perhaps if everything was open, but maybe it would be better to stay somewhere with more atmosphere. Apart from that, the staff were efficient enough but too busy to be very helpful. This might be a better option for a business trip.

Room Tip: Don't stay here with more than two people in a room

Hi,

Thanks for your comments. We take them very seriously and appreciate you took the time to share your insights with us and the rest of the Tripadvisor community. We will use them as a tool to further improve our service and quality.

In fact the days when you stayed at our hotel were called "Fiestas Patrias" and it's the biggest and most important holiday in Chile. With that in mind we hope to see you again in the near future.

Regards,
