Sheraton Santiago Hotel and Convention Center
Ranked #69 of 202 Hotels in Santiago
Reviewed March 14, 2014

We rated this property average because of the Value it provided for the price paid. As stated a Little bit of TLC (Tender Loving Care) will bring this location to the position it needs to maintain. Food in a few of the venues was adequate as was the service throughout. It appears as a great facility for conventions and Meetings and maybe that is why the wear is showing. Amenities were Sub-par for this company and niche it represents. Location is good and the wild lavender out front provided a fragrant surprise.

We were guests at a wedding taking place at the hotel, and so we decided to stay over night, which was not a good idea.
When we got into our room, it was small (this, we knew), it looked old, the blankets were dirty and it smelled tobacco (normally a non-smoking room). All this for a negotiated price of $185
When I complained about the situation, they offered to upgrade us to a club room paying $50 extra. Even if I said, that they should make a commercial gesture, considering the room they gave us and the fact that we were attending a wedding that generated high revenues to the hotel, I had to pay the extra charge.
The club room was good and comfortable as all rooms in a Sheraton hotel should be.
Breakfast is abundant, but of average quality.
Staff at reception desk is very unfriendly.
I will never go again to this hotel for any reason. Other Sheraton hotels in Chile are much better, Sheraton Miramar in Viña del Mar is a great place.

The location is great with so much of the best part of the city at your feet. The outdoor area of this hotel HAS to be one of the best that Sheraton has to offer. You feel like you are at a resort, it is somewhat of a cross between the tropics and the mountains. The pool and deck are splendid: cabanas, contemporary furnishings, bar, restaurant, lounge seating all make a spectacular place to meet, read, relax or just take in the splendor of it all. The rooms are very comfortable with nice bedding and lots of pillows. There is a variety of electrical outlets to accommodate different plug types and voltage. The bath is all stone and glass with a nice assortment of amenities, hairdryer and magnifying vanity mirror. Mini bar/refrigerator, desk with worklight, cable tv with English and Spanish stations including CNN and the BBC, internet and wifi in room. The fitness center is quite good for a hotel. There is a huge breakfast and dinner buffet at the restaurant adjoining the pool. Nice bar indoors. The hotel is perched on a hillside with magnificent views of the city on the front-side and pool/forest views on the back-side. There are hire-cars and tour desks at the hotel, You are across the street from Santa Maria Park, next door to the Indisa Hospsital. There are many good restaurants nearby. San Cristobal mountain is great for hiking.and Santa Maria Park is just across the street. This hotel is good for business or leisure travel.

Good location. Central. However, could be closer to center of town.
Clean. Friendly. Good breakfast

Room lighting could stand to be improved. Now too dim. Very hard to read in the room.

Snacks and drinks are excellent in the evening. However, they charge for a second drink without telling you in advance.

We stayed at the Sheraton Santiago for several days prior to boarding a cruise ship in Valparaiso. What sells this hotel are the public spaces. The outdoor pool area, bar and restaurant are a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. The buffet breakfast is served in the outdoor restaurant, which is a delightful way to start the day. Included in the buffet are the usual American and European breakfast items along with some of the best, freshly baked bread that I have ever eaten. It can be a bit chilly outside in the morning so bring a sweater or jacket to breakfast. The hotel lobby is spacious and has a very nice open bar area with a small but adequate bar food menu. In the evening, there is entertainment in the bar area - a wonderful female singer the evenings that we spent there. There is also a hotel restaurant that opens for dinner at 7:30 p.m. We did not try the restaurant. The rooms are functional but not lavish. Our room had two very comfortable single beds, a desk with a desk chair and a mini-bar. There was a large safe in the closet. The marble bathroom was small but had everything that we needed. The nice thing about this hotel is that you don't want to spend a lot of time in your room because the public spaces are so wonderful.
We had no problem communicating even though our Spanish is very basic. English was spoken by all of the front desk staff, the bell staff and tourist desks. There are two tourist desks in the lobby where you can book all types of tours. The local "Hop On/Hop Off" bus stops directly in front of the hotel.
We thought the pricing was very reasonable for a major city hotel, especially since the room cost includes a very extensive breakfast buffet. If we return to Santiago, we will definitely stay here again.

I have visited Santiago now many times. This is a good, well located hotel. Rooms are spacious and cleaned, even though investing in some new furniture would not be a bad idea. Food is good, and the price is competitive. I recommend this hotel is you are in Santiago for business.

We found the Sheraton rooms a bit tired given the price we paid. However the lobby was lovely and the pool area very nice, but the pool was small and extremely cold given it was 35 degrees in the shade! Free internet in lobby only in 2 hour blocks, a bit annoying! Location not bad, out of town centre, but 5 min walk to subway so not too bad. We had some lovely walks around San Christobel Hill at the back of the hotel. Found the local dogs in Santiago adorable, they follow you around in packs and then when you get to the hotel they say goodbye - sweet!
