“Good Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2014

Good location. Central. However, could be closer to center of town.
Clean. Friendly. Good breakfast

Room lighting could stand to be improved. Now too dim. Very hard to read in the room.

Snacks and drinks are excellent in the evening. However, they charge for a second drink without telling you in advance.

We stayed at the Sheraton Santiago for several days prior to boarding a cruise ship in Valparaiso. What sells this hotel are the public spaces. The outdoor pool area, bar and restaurant are a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. The buffet breakfast is served in the outdoor restaurant, which is a delightful way to start the day. Included in the buffet are the usual American and European breakfast items along with some of the best, freshly baked bread that I have ever eaten. It can be a bit chilly outside in the morning so bring a sweater or jacket to breakfast. The hotel lobby is spacious and has a very nice open bar area with a small but adequate bar food menu. In the evening, there is entertainment in the bar area - a wonderful female singer the evenings that we spent there. There is also a hotel restaurant that opens for dinner at 7:30 p.m. We did not try the restaurant. The rooms are functional but not lavish. Our room had two very comfortable single beds, a desk with a desk chair and a mini-bar. There was a large safe in the closet. The marble bathroom was small but had everything that we needed. The nice thing about this hotel is that you don't want to spend a lot of time in your room because the public spaces are so wonderful.
We had no problem communicating even though our Spanish is very basic. English was spoken by all of the front desk staff, the bell staff and tourist desks. There are two tourist desks in the lobby where you can book all types of tours. The local "Hop On/Hop Off" bus stops directly in front of the hotel.
We thought the pricing was very reasonable for a major city hotel, especially since the room cost includes a very extensive breakfast buffet. If we return to Santiago, we will definitely stay here again.

I have visited Santiago now many times. This is a good, well located hotel. Rooms are spacious and cleaned, even though investing in some new furniture would not be a bad idea. Food is good, and the price is competitive. I recommend this hotel is you are in Santiago for business.

We found the Sheraton rooms a bit tired given the price we paid. However the lobby was lovely and the pool area very nice, but the pool was small and extremely cold given it was 35 degrees in the shade! Free internet in lobby only in 2 hour blocks, a bit annoying! Location not bad, out of town centre, but 5 min walk to subway so not too bad. We had some lovely walks around San Christobel Hill at the back of the hotel. Found the local dogs in Santiago adorable, they follow you around in packs and then when you get to the hotel they say goodbye - sweet!

Upon arrival at Sheraton Santiago, it appears to be quite beautiful. We were given our room right away on the 4th floor. Upon entering the room, there were spots all over the floor. We tried to plug in our Iphones and ereaders. Nothing would work. A couple of the lights did not work.
I notified the desk, and they said they would send someone to check (this was around noon). I finally went back around 3 p.m.after no one showed, and they said they were moving us. Finally went back around 5 p.m. They finally moved us to the Club floor. The room was much larger and cleaner, however the beside lamp was falling out of the wall. We said nothing about that.

The last morning at the breakfast buffet, they kept running out of food, particularly the eggs. When they finally brought them out, they were so runny you couldn't eat them. We just ate a little fruit and skipped the rest of the food.

On the positive side, the staff at the hotel were very kind and understanding. The area in which the buffet breakfast is served outside is beautiful and very clean with service for coffee and juice, excellent.

The location requires use of transportation. Nothing to walk to nearby.

I'm sorry, but I would not stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Request a room on the Club floor overlooking the pool.

I really enjoyed this hotel. The staff were very good but the concierge staff was extremely helpful and amazing! They went above and beyond to help arrange transportation and even to help resolve non-hotel related problems I had. That is the type of service that surprises me! There is a great outdoor space to lounge in that was extremely comfortable day and night. I found that I spent most of my time there! The shower wasn't very clean and the room was very old and run-down but that didn't ruin my stay. I recommend this hotel for the amazing service!

Our room was comfortable and clean. We had good view of the expressway and the river. Free WiFi is not included in the room price, but was available in the lobby and meeting room areas. The hotel was conviently located for access to the expressway, and since we did our touring by rented car this was useful. It was expensive. I'd say value was slightly less than average, but not poor. We stayed there the last week in Feb, and one day into March before we moved to another hotel. Would I stay there again? Probably, depending on what sort of deal I could get.
