This hotel was awesome in every way. It was very affordable for a Ritz Carlton. It was soooo comfortable! The staff was fantastic. They sent us fruit and champagne everytime we rechecked in. The roof top pool was great. The location within Santiago was excellent as well. There were quite a few restaurants within walking distance. There is also a subway stop very close that we used alot as well. I always felt very safe around the Ritz. If I was ever in Santiago again, this is the only place I would stay!!!

We stayed there in september, 2008 and it was not nice. The bathroom was very dirty and the toilet seat had faeces from the last guest; that means; they did not clean the toilet !!!!!!!! The people in the swimming pool were not nice and they did not provide us with enough towels in the room. Despite that, you dont have free internet access. Most hotels, since you have your own laptop, dont charge you for that.

I recently had three one-night stays at the Ritz Santiago, as I traveled thru South America. I was disappointed with each stay. It started almost from the moment I arrived – during check-in I asked if they could mail a post-card and put the cost of the stamp on my bill – and was given a dirty look – as if that wasn’t their job. Bell-boys argued in front of my girlfriend about who would bring the bags up to the room. The first night there we asked concierge to recommend a restaurant – upon arrival, the restaurant was empty and was a buffet. Breakfast was awful. After dinner one night we went to the bar – the main area is smoking – which we wanted to avoid – so we sat outside that area for fifteen minutes being ignored. We moved inside in the smoking area hoping for service – and were ignored for ten minutes – while they fawned over loud businessmen smoking cigars – before being offered a drink. The rooms themselves are actually fairly nice – at least in terms of size. We were in an executive suite (which was not cheap) but the bed was brutal – I don’t think it was two single beds pushed together – but on two of the nights, the mattress had problems in the middle of it – I did not sleep well. Usually washrooms in suites have two sinks – this room didn’t. And this may seem small – but the smoke alarm lights up every ten seconds or so – and it’s almost like a camera flash – ridiculous.

Anyways – some of these problems are easily fixable – Mostly the hotel needs a change in management. As far as breakfast – it wasn’t included in the price – on the last day – we skipped and went left out the main entrance – to the main street – and on the other side there is a little café – that sells muffins/breads/breakfast empanadas/coffee – try this – it’s much better than what’s on offer… I’m not sure what other options there are in Santiago – but I’d try somewhere else... Very disappointing after the incredible stay we had at the Four Season Buenos Aires…

My wife and I, with a family friend had two stays on a Chile/Peru holiday.

Make no mistake, this is a great hotel in a fashionable district of Santiago. I have to say, though, that we were slightly disappointed; perhaps, having read the reviews, our expectations were unrealistically high.

There was nothing major that we could point to as being unsatisfactory, apart from one rather snippy and unhelpful receptionist (very much the exception). Maybe it was the heaviness of the decor in the public areas and in the rooms? Or maybe we'd have appreciated it more if we hadn't had the Miraflores in Lima to compare it with.

Anyway, everything was comfortable; with that one exception, the staff were pleasant and the doormen/bellboys in particular were terrific; the main restaurant provides first-class food in a refined environment; and the concierge was most helpful in arranging an impromptu downtown tour (you need a car or taxi for that).

As I said, top-notch hotel, but just a shade below what we'd expected.

I have been to this hotel for business in many occasions. My experience there is excellent and this is my preferred hotel in Santiago.

The executive floor suites gives access to free breakfast, happy hours and other tea/snacks throughout the day.

The service is the world-known Ritz service, where the staff will go the "extra mile" to satisfy you.

A great experience.

We really liked the Ritz, but it was a bit far from all the tourist hits, like museums, etc. It was close to a main drag with great food.

The hotel is in a good location. It is quiet and most restaurants are within a 10 minute walk.

The room was nicely appointed with a comfortable bed, wooden valet, and a marble bathroom. The wall safe was the size of a medicine cabinet and quite disappointing.

The large marble and glass shower with over-sized rain shower head is truly one of the room's outstanding features. There is no shower mat and one never appeared over a 7 day period. The bathroom sink area is large, but with few towel racks.

In the room, there are few outlets and of the ones that existed, their placements were inconvenient and hard to find.

A USD$14 cocktail at the pool bar will take 30 minutes for delivery and the drink may ultimately be disappointing. You'll have to walk up to the bar and flag someone down cause there are no wait staff that come over to the pool/hot tub to take your order.

The elevators run smooth and fast. Breakfast is not included, and at a room rate of $450 a night, the exclusion is a slap in the face. Internet will run USD$15 per day.

The lobby is a bit stuffy and lacks the sense of glitz and excitement normally associated with a 5-star hotel. Overall, the hotel has an old fashioned feel and could probably use an updated lobby. Nice for the parents, but lacks a sense of glamor for the younger crowd.
