“Staff were amazing, complimentary room upgrade too, thank you”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2010

I was staying just one night in transit from Concepcion to the UK, so arrived late and left mid-morning.

I called the hotel earlier and asked about advice on getting to the hotel late at night.

The Concierge was amazing. Knowing that the metro didn't run so late, he offered me the hotel car service at $21.000, but I said that was too expensive for me, so he arranged a shuttle with TransVIP; it really gave me peace of mind so late at night and cost just $5.500.

Check in was simple and I was really pleased to be given a complimentary room upgrade, even though I hardly had time to enjoy it.

Room was quiet and comfortable, with a good choice of toiletries and a powerful shower.

Breakfast was in the Club Lounge where staff are just so helpful

Pros: good central location, very clean, nice bathrooms, comfortable beds, good sound insulation, great hot water supply, climate controls in room actually work.

Cons: relatively expensive for Santiago, generic decor (very little local color), slow checkout process can result in long lines, trouble with some important amenities (see below).

The safe in my room did not work when I arrived. It took three requests over two days to get it fixed, but then it broke again at the end of my stay (fortunately I had already removed my valuables).

The wireless internet broke down several times during my stay (the staff acknowledged they were having problems with their system and the fee I paid for it was gladly refunded). Wifi access costs $10 per 24 hours, but unlike other hotels they only count the time you are actually on the network, so if you are out and about, one payment of $10 could easily cover many calendar days, and you don't get charged for when it's broken.

Overall, the breakfast buffet was good, but I would recommend avoiding the pancakes, scrambled eggs, etc. (which rarely good at buffets anyway).

The business center consists of four computers and a printer in the lobby, and tends to be very crowded.

Since the earthquake is still recent, there are signs of disrepair around the hotel, such as cracks in the walls and ceilings in common areas. However, during the entire stay I saw signs of these things being repaired.
Overall the hotel is comfortable and clean although a little dated. The location is convenient and centrally located, you are within walking distance to the Centro Historico.
The one thing that I must say is that the staff were incredibly accommodating, excellent customer service all around. Very effecient, plesant and accommodating. Would stay again just for the service.

A very convenient place, it's close to everywhere. Great value for money, nice room with attentive staff at the breakfast buffet. My biggest disappointment was that there's not enough coffee in the room, usually everywhere in big hotels they always provide coffee, tea, creamer and sugar. Too bad it wasn't like that in our room. (As I am a big coffee lover!).

Overall, this hotel is a nice place to stay and it's right in the main road of Santiago so it's easy to find (compared to other big name hotels).

The hotel is in a good location although I would have preferred Las Condes. The staff is friendly and helpful but expect tips for everything. The room was a normal size and one of the walls stil had a crack from the earthquake. The fitness center, pool and spa are are very nice. Make sure to drink a Pisco Palta Sour (Pisco Sour with Avocado) and to get a Rumano Burguer at a German Restaurant on the next block towards plaza italia (on the same side of the sidewalk as the hotel). Get it Italian Style with Avocado, Mayo and Ketchup.

Good location, reasonable price, all desired services. Very helpful staff. Money exchange with no up-charge.Top notch restaurant at amazing prices. Evening menu somewhat (but only somewhat) limited. Midday menu extremely large and varied. Much local seafood but that's not to slight the rest of the menu.

I took one star off the "rooms" only because the bathtub was very slippery.

for a hotel of this class and cost it should be better all round. Everything is ok but it should be good at least.
