This is a charming B&B with a wonderful host named Kelly who spoke good English and was very helpful and accommodating. The location was quite convenient and we liked the neighborhood feel as opposed to the feel of a big city.

Room Tip: we had room number 5 which was very nice with a private bath and tall ceilings

just to say a few words about this small and charming hotel: it is a very nice hotel, newly refurbished and with a lot of god taste, price was more than decent (taking into consideration that santiago has become very expensive lately) it was close to the city center and most importantly is is situated in a good and quiet neighborhood.
the host (owner) was also very nice, assisted in any way she could.
rooms were clean, breakfast was very good.
we will chose this hotel again on our next trip to santiago.
the only small minus is: bathroom is shared unless you pay a bit more for the suite and when people are walking up and down, you might hear them sometimes.
ciao.

We booked a twin room at this B&B because of the nice reviews and the owner is english speaking. When we arrived, spanish only speaking lady showed us our room. carried our luggege one flight up and were disappointed with the room. This twin room was L-Shaped, with beds arranged in L-Shape, with hardly any room left and no other furniture. Not even a mirror. The bathroom was at the end of the hall way, clean but worn out. The doors and windows were flimsy. The street noise and barking dogs were heard all night. Over the phone, the english speaking owner agreed to swap my room to a double room (slighlty better) after my complaining. At the time of bill settlement, the owners husband showed up with a bath towel wrapped around him, demanding I pay extra for swithing to double room. He suggested to leave the hotel if I didnt like it. Well finally we paid the original amt and glad to leave the place.
This B&B serves breakfast from 8 to 10. That was not convenient to my travel plans.

Room Tip: Keep away from this place

Abracadabra is a very nice house in an artistic neighborhood. This neighborhood has been very much damaged during the last big earthquake in Santiago (2010), and therefore a lot of work has been done there: houses are reconstructed, damaged paintings are being remade by popular artists, and the whole neighborhood is of friendly and simple people. The Abracadabra house itself has also been remade by the owners who run the B&B, themselves. In this way, Kelly can always keep an eye on her little lovely daughter. We had a room with no window to the outside (just to the staircase), and without a private bathroom, but since we arrived late in the night because of our flight to Santiago, and therefore we woke up a little bit later then the rest of the hosts in the hotel, we had no problem at all to use the bathrooms. People are also quite careful with the noise so we could sleep very well.

My partner and I had a lovely stay in this fantastic B&B in the centre of Santiago. Kayleigh, the owner is incredibly helpful and all to pleased to share her knowledge of the city's best sights. The B&B is situated in a quiet street, but in easy reach of the city centre either on foot, or from the metro stop located 100m from the front door. The rooms are very spacious, clean and airy, and while there is not a kitchen, there is a kettle, toaster and microwave and Kayleigh is happy for you to bring food bck in the evenings if you fancy a quiet night in. I would recommend Abracadbra to anyone wanting to find a quiet corner from which to base their adventures around Santiago.

I booked here for 4 nights and ended up staying for 9 nights!
The B&B building is a gorgeous old renovated home that is immaculately clean and stylishly decorated. It is safe and its location is superb. In the hip Barrio Brasil it is close enough to the city to see everything yet far enough away to be quiet at night and get a restful sleep. You can walk into town in 30mins or jump on the metro which is a 3 min walk away and 3 stops from the centre of the city for sightseeing purposes.
The host Kelly is lovely, kind and helpful. Her English is perfect and you will be hard pressed to find a better host than her anywhere in the world :)
Wifi speed is fast and I had great connection through out my whole stay.
Breakfast is perfect. All of the staff and kind and considerate.
Any downsides you read on here may be valid but they are far outweighed by the upsides.

Room Tip: For beautiful afternoon light and high ceilings - Room 2 For quiet and cosy basic bed&breakfast...

If you are looking for something a little more adventurous than a standard downtown hotel, try Abracadabra!
Kelly is a gracious host and speaks good English.
The 160 year old building retains its high ceilings and wooden floors and doors. It has been nicely updated with modern plumbing, comfortable beds, and good WiFi. Its nicely decorated with plain white walls with large modern paintings. There was little street noise but the wooden floors made it easy to hear other guests coming and going.
Kelly provides a substantial cold breakfast, with fresh juice and warm buns, enough to set you up for the day. If you get the seat by the window for breakfast you can see all the locals going about their business as the day starts, which makes you feel like you are living in a real area, not a tourist ghetto
The location is a five minute walk to the Cummer subway and fifteen minutes from downtown.
There are a few decent local bistro/pub/restaurants at the end of the block, but you need to have a little Spanish or be really good at pointing and smiling!
Recommended for anyone who wants to be a traveller rather than a tourist!

Room Tip: Room 5 is central, quiet, dark, cool and has its own shower.
