There was a degree of anticipation that this would be a lazy day with us tired from the trip. We’ve actually done better than anticipated. However, there was no intention of chasing about Santiago in search of dinner so this evening we have dinner reservations at the acclaimed hotel restaurant; Latin Grill. As Americans we’re the first ones in the restaurant and hold that honor through half of our dinner. The restaurant never does get crowded. Argentineans, like the Spanish eat late.
The meal is absolutely top shelf. We begin with Ostiones en sus tres matices (scallops in three versions) and a chorizo plate.
For our main course we select, Atún con habas y manzana en dos matices y reducción de jugo de maqui (Tuna fish with fava beans in two versions and wild berry juice “maqui” reduction) and filete de corvina sobre risotto de erizos y ensalada de cilantro (Chilean sea bass fillet over sea urchin risotto and coriander salad).
We do not need desert but when we mention that we’re celebrating our 30th anniversary a very large dark chocolate fudge cake with a big piece of congratulatory dark chocolate comes to the table along with two glasses of bubbly; complimentary of course.
