Did walking trip1 in Santiago. Carla was the tour leader and was very informative and helpful. Really enjoyed it and picked up loads of tips about where else to visit. Highly recommended.

Our guide was great, spoke several languages and kept us moving. She made the tour but i can see that you could also get a dud. Price was right (free) but we did give her a nice tip. All in all go do it if you have the time.

Went on the Popular Santiago and Patromonial Route walking tours. What an excellent way to explore the city, find your bearings and get local insight from very knowledgeable guide (Jose for the Popular Santiago Tour and Franco for the Patromonial Tour). Both very well spoken young men and very proud of their beautiful country. Highly recommended! 10 stars!!!!

I enjoyed my tour with SpicyChile, however I wouldn't say it's a must do.

Pros: Our guide was friendly, the people we met on the tour were great, you pay what you want to as a tip, you get to walk over a swath of the city so you get to see a lot. There are three different tour options (we did good morning Santiago) so if you like the tour, you can take another.

Cons: We learned very basic surface things, and there were several times during the tour that I would have preferred to have left the tour and begun to explore the area we were in more in depth. We did take a refreshment break, which on the one hand was nice to break up the tour, but then we were at a specific cafe so we felt pressured to get drinks/food from this particular establishment. We did and the food was sub-par, the service a bit pushy and overall I didn't like this aspect of the tour. I imagine spicyChile probably has some sort of relationship with this cafe. This tour covers a lot of ground, and perhaps they are just trying to fit too much in.

Overall I would rate the tour as average. Where this tour stands out is in the amount of the city you will get to see. It's a lot, but then, you will have walked all over the city and not feel like you know the real details behind anything. The guides are friendly and helpful, and I believe they are deserving of a nice tip (gave 10.000 pesos) its just the structure is perhaps not my cup of tea. I think after this tour you will know where everything in the city is, so that you can go back and explore it over the next few days on your own (the parks, the museums, the cathedrals, etc) Then again, a simple map can provide you with the information you'd need to do just that.

Franco lead us on a wonderful tour of the early nineteenth century neighborhoods of Santiago. Places you would not find on your own. The oldest barbershop in Santiago, complete with hat towels and straight razor shaves was a step into a time warp.
