The Villa Real is one of the oldest tearooms in Santiago. Most of the ones in the center of town have disappeared but the Villa Real has managed to reinvent itself by not only serving traditional teas but also lunches.
It is very well situated in Providencia, just set back off Pedro de Valdivia in a space which runs between there and Orrego Luco, near the Hotel Orly.
There is a set menu lunch with a couple of options, salads and sandwiches. If you go at tea time you can have one of their rich cakes or a sandwich. It is closer to home cooking than gourmet food, but everything is fresh and the service is provided by waiters who have been there for a long time. They also prepare some dishes to take away, which is handy if you are in an apart hotel in the area.
There is indoor seating as well as a covered outdoor area. Because it is set back from the street, it is a small oasis from the busy area around it.
