We joined Phillipe's morning tour along with approximately 30 others. What a grat way to start learning about the sights, culture and history of this amazing place. Phillipe was funny, engaging, passionate and very knowledgable about his city. I've noticed on tours in other cities that guides avoid the more contraversial topics or remain infuriatingly 'PC' but Phillipe's insight and honesty was refreshing and fascinating. He offered his own views whilst leaving space to disagree if you chose to. His introduction has made me subsequently find out more about the Pinochet years and has made me fall in love with the Chilean people even more!

The tour is free, but of course, the guides need to earn a living and so they welcome tips! The amount they suggest is 5000 -8000 pesos (very approx. £7 - £10). In my view this is inexpensive for a 4 hour tour so packed full of interesting facts, opinions and insights.

As an aside, this is a great way to meet other English speaking people in the city. After the tour 5 of us headed off to the Fish Market for lunch and spent the afternoon wandering around the city - which was an unexpected bonus of having been on the tour.

this tour was excellent! we had Franco and he really showed us around the city in a great way. describing and explaining everything we needed to know and more. he was very engaging and knowledgable. only mentioned the "tips" at the beginning and the end of the tour and made sure we all knew that it was voluntary. I would highly recommend this tour as a quick an inexpensive ($10 average) way to familiarize yourself with the highlights of Santiago.

We arrived to Santiago at 6 AM and showed up for a 10 AM tour at the Plaza the Armas, and so glad we did. Our guide Franco did a great job, introducing the city. The tour took 4 hours. We had a large group and Franco managed it well, answered all of our questions. He recommended great local restaurants and bars, we tried them out and we were satisfied.

Our guide Felippe was fantastic- great humour and fantastic knowledge of Chile and Santiago. I recommend to take the free tour at the beginning of your stay. It gives you a good overview of the most important spots in the city with background information about history and politics. We also received information about things to do in Santiago as well as restaurant recommendations and the best places where to get local delights.
A tip of CPL 5,000 to 8,000 is recommended at the end of the tour and it's definitely worth it. The tour took 3.5 hours including a 30 minutes break at a cafe where it was up to you if you wanted to have a coffee or anything else. Although the service at the cafe was really bad but our guide was more than happy to sort everything out for us.

The tour was crowded, but at every stop we heard the info perfectly fine. We usually stopped in the shade which was nice, since we did the afternoon tour. Our tour was a little less then 4 hours. You take a break and have a nice lunch at a cafe in a cute area. THe food was good and was discounted for the walking tour. We didnt see all the items listed out on the website, and did not go up santa lucia, which was the main item we wanted to see. The stops at certain restaurants and stores can be cut out. I was looking forward to seeing more old cathedrals. We only saw the one at which we started the group at. We tipped $15 for two people on the tour. They say multiple times they prefer to get 10-15 us dollars a person.
