All the reviews seemed excellent hence why we booked the winter horseback day tour. Unfortunately communication slipped from both parties as we didnt have much horse riding experience and it made the day quite scary at times. The ride up was easy but down was pretty terrifying at times esp for 2 inexperienced riders ( we did learn afterwards it wasn't the normal route used, and it's usually not as long or as steep as we did). Apart from that Suzie and Arno was good hosts, the scenery was spectacular and it felt like we were the only people in the world having a BBQ in the middle of the Andes!! Pictures don't do it justice.
I would recommend a shorter rider for those less experienced, the horses were very gentle and pack warm + + oh and don't plan to do too much the next day you can be quite sore:-)

On the particular day we went for the ride, we heard that our “Arriero” (Chilean horseback guide) had to go to the hospital, so instead his 75 year old fit father stood in and took us up to the Andes!

There has seemed to be a miscommunication between Ismael and his father, so the father did not understand we wanted to be back at a certain time. Instead, he wanted to pleasure our international guests by taking them up to the snow, which was a little higher due to the amount of sun we have received the last few weeks.
Apart from the spectacular views of the snowy Andes that day, the descent was gradual and probably subjective depending if one is fearful of heights. Where one goes up to 3000 meters in the Andes, one also has to come down…

This ride can be easily done by any beginner, as the horses we use are extremely easy to handle. You might be a little stiff indeed after so many hours in the saddle… but that is the price/prize you pay for the breathtaking views of almighty snow-capped Andes, following the trails of the Conquistadores back in the 1500’s….

Anyways, Jodie & Shane did a great job that day!

My boyfriend and I took two day trips with Suzanne and Chile Off Track. I recommend using Suzanne and her company for your day trips while in Santiago. The first was a day trip to the wineries. Concha y Toro was on strike (which Suzanne previously told us by email when we were still in the States, which was appreciated) so we did Cousino Macul and Santa Rita. Suzanne picked us up at our hotel right on time. We went to Cusino first, which is a wonderful winery that takes you back in time. Suzanne then took us to a fabulous place for lunch called La Vaquita Echa (and she recommended a delicious meat dish!) and then we went on to Santa Rita. The whole day was what a vacation should be - fun, easy and carefree. The second trip we did with Chile Off Track was to Valpraiso for a day. We actually added this one on after we had such a great winery trip with Suzanne. I highly recommend the Valpraiso trip. Suzanne picked out a great walk for us through the city and we made two stops for coffee and lunch. Both were fantastic places that we probably would not have found but for Suzanne. Booking with Chile Off Track is easy and Suzanne is very responsive. She is also someone you would want to hang out with, which made the trips even more fun. If you use Chile Off Track you will be making a great choice.

This was 2nd time horseback riding with Chile off Track. Suzanne and her dogs pick you up at hotel or apartment and bring you on a short ride to the foot of mountains. It's only 30 minutes away but once you start riding, you can no longer see city and scenery is extremely unique. The amount of time riding is generous but not exhausting and you do not need experience as horses are extremely tame. If you are a dog lover, there is usually a few that will follow you up mountains for added entertainment. A nice lunch of sandwiches, fruit, cheese, fresh bread, and wine is included. Highly recommend.

I was at the Hot Springs in Andes (Santiago, Chile) with Suzi and Arno last weekend. We have seen the pics of Andes covered with snow and know how beautiful it is.... specially when you are seeing it in person laying down in hot springs... What made our tour really more fun was the the great company of Suzi and Arno. They really personalize the whole experience for me and my companion....
I would definitely recommend the Hot Springs tour with Chile off track and perhaps if you are with Suzi and Arno then then you in for a treat !!!!!

This tour was, by far, the best of the five we did while we spent a week in Santiago for the first time. We have also taken similar tours in Italy, and nothing compares to the majesty of the Andes and the professionalism and courtesy of Chile Off Track. Did I mention just how gorgeous the Andes are? I'm not big on horseback riding, so getting to see the Andes from a warm hot springs pool was just about perfect. I mean, who has pictures in beautiful naturally heated blue water with the Andes as the backdrop? And Suzie at Chile Off Track really helped to personalize the tour. I felt she made a great effort to help us feel comfortable, informed, well taken care of, and pleased with our experience. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking to get out of Santiago for a day and experience the wonder of the Andes mountains and Banos Colina hot springs. Thank you Chile Off Track for helping to make our vacation in Santiago unforgettable!!!
