The hotel consists of compact apartments in two locations (43 and 61). They are in a lovely neighborhood with plenty of good restaurants and wonderful ambience. The hotel rooms are clean, and have kitchenettes. The drawbacks are no elevator or air conditioning (However a floor fan is provided if needed). Lucky for us, the weather was a pleasant temperature while we were in Santiago and the two windows in the room provided for cross-ventilation. The staff will help you wrangle your bags up to the room, but after a long day of walking around the city the steps can be daunting. The floors are polished wood, but ours had a few splinters so keep your shoes on. The office staff are very friendly, accomplished in speaking English, and arranged a licensed airport taxi for us. We would stay here again if the weather was not too hot.

Room Tip: Our room was on the side away from the street, and the interior window opened into a ventilation sha...

We recently stayed at Lastarria 43 during our week in Chile and we really enjoyed our accommodation. We rented a 2 bedroom apartment, and it was neat, very clean and had all the amenities you could possibly think of (hair dryer, clothes iron, wine bottle opener, etc). The great thing is that there was daily maid service to freshen up our place. Oh, and the staff was sooo friendly and helpful, even the cleaning staff whom really didn't speak much English, but they were great! Tomi was also very helpful. He answered all of my questions (and I had alot of them) even before we arrived. He also provided us with some local recommendations (eg: sightseeing, what buses to take).

The other great thing about these apartments is that the location is fantastic. The neighborhood is quaint with a few shops and plenty of restaurants, and it’s about a 5 minute walk to the metro. Also, it’s walking distance to many local attractions and the Bellavista neighborhood, which we spent plenty of time in. Lastly, I felt really safe here, which is always a priority when traveling abroad anywhere. Stay here, you’ll love it, and I’m a picky person!

Room Tip: The reception is located in the next door location, Lastarria 61. Nobody will usually be at the 43...

This is a very nice place with very friendly people always helpful when you have questions. The apartments are small, but that is normal in Chile, very clean and nice. The bathroom are also nice and pretty new. We recommend this place.

Room Tip: We had room number 22 and we liked it very much, especially the big matress.

The apartment is very nice, well decorated and comfortable. The location is excellent, in a trendy neighbourhood, plenty of restaurants and close to downtown and the metro. The staff is nice but they seem inexperienced, we had some very minor incoveniences which weren´t solved. They don´t have parking space for all the apartments (although you have to pay for it), parking on the street is not allowed in the area and parking lots are expensive. We asked for a local cell phone (which is offered in the web page) but they only have 4 (!) so, of course, they were all taken. The apartment is great, but needs a better management.

As a family of 5 we found it very difficult to get suitable accommodation in Santiago. We then came across Lastarria 43-61. Having spent 3 months in Chile we immediately booked any available days we could at Lastarria. Tomi was very accommodating and helpful with all our requirements. He also speaks english which is a bonus for some travellers as myself. The apartments are superb. Spacious, clean and modern. The top floor apartment was our favourite with it's own balcony and dual bathrooms. Having restaurants and shops downstairs was great. In fact the street below is great to walk around, occasionally closing off for markets or fairs. Everything is literally at your doorstep. The metro is merely 100 metres down the road. We found it to be the ideal base for our exploring of the city. We also found it very safe, the kids often went by themselves to buy an ice-cream and enjoyed the freedom. Santa Lucia hill is across the street, a great museum down the road and the artisan markets a short walk. Save yourself the grief of looking for alternatives as this is the best value - believe me we looked long and hard. The bonus is the rooms are also air-conditioned and quiet when closed off to the street. Try and get the top floor with the outdoor terrace. Well worth it. Overall we stayed on three separate occasions and would definitely book again if we get the opportunity to return to Santiago. Thanks Tomi and staff for providing such quality accommodation - it can be hard to come by in Santiago.

Room Tip: Any room is great but the top floor with outdoor terrace is the best.

We stayed three times here whilst we were travelling around South America. The apartments were very clean and nicely furnished. The staff were always very helpful, especially Christobal, who spoke excellent English. Otherwise you needed some basic Spanish to communicate with the other staff. The position of the hotel is excellent, close to very good restaurants, metro, historic sites, parks, and Cerro Santa Lucia. We left and arrived at very odd hours which was never a problem with their 24 hour reception. Also we felt very secure there. Strongly recommend this boutique hotel for a short or longer stay.

We spent seven days at the Lastarria 61. I believe it is a little newer than 43. They are adjacent to each other and run as a single unit. We arrived late in the evening on a weekend for check-in, however, Elizabeth was waiting for us and quickly got us settled in. We had an issue with the safe (the pervious guest locked it and left) so we had to wait till morning for someone to get it opened. No big deal. It was very cold inside the suite that night so the next day we enquired about the heat. We were told the building heat had been shut off for spring a couple of weeks ago. They gladly brought us a space heater which worked just perfectly to keep us warm and cozy. There were a couple of burned out light bulbs that were quickly replaced. In reality, whatever we requested was responded to quickly, professionally and with a friendly disposition - even if we were communicating by hand signals. Our fault for not speaking Spanish. The internet wi-fi worked well and was no problem.
There was usually someone on the front desk to help out with phone calls, taxis, etc. If not, we could go next door to 41 where the admin office was located.
Christopher, the young man at our front desk most afternoons spoke very good English and was always more than willing to help in any way whatsoever.
We had read the reviews about some issues on paying the bill, so knowing that we would be checking out on a Sunday, I contacted Karen at the admin office. She suggested we come by Friday afternoon to settle up. We had no problem putting the entire amount on our Visa card and verified that the Chilean Peso worked out to the correct USD amount.
The cleaning ladies were friendly and thorough and always waited till we went out for the day before bothering us with the housekeeping. They supplied clean towels when requested but didn't change the bedding. We left a man's sports coat to be dry cleaned and it was returned the next day in great condition. The added cost to the bill was $12.00 USD; far cheaper than any cleaning done in North America.
Lastarria 61 is within the heart of a trendy neighbourhood surrounded by great restaurants, kitchy boutiques, coffee bars and lots of local artisan shops. There is also a "U" supermarket just a couple of blocks away and a subway stop right around the corner. The subways in Santiago are clean and as safe as any public transit can be in a large city.
I would highly recommend this apartment hotel if you are spending any amount of time in Santiago and want to do some cooking for yourself. The kitchen was well stocked and everything was in good working condition.
On another positive note, the shower was the best I have experienced in a long time.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the inner suites that look down into the inside courtyard. There are no real windows t...
