“Gotta try it if you're a lamb addicted”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

I've tasted many types of lamb dishes worldwide and this one was very tasty.
A very simple entrance in a residential neighborhood in East Santiago hides a bigger área that seems to gather several backyards where some rooms share the space with the fire where lambs are roasted. No luxury, but a friendly staff and good wine menu. You can either seat outside or in a glass room with a view to the fire.
I had the 'Asado de los Arrieros' which tasted fine with the 2007 Lapostolle Cabernet Sauvignon. We were six people and everyone was plenty satisfyied with their orders.
When everyone was done, I decided not to loose the opportunity to taste the 'Lomo Romero' which tasted wonderfull while everyone else was having their deserts.
Definitely, a place to be visited by the Lamb Brotherhood members.

“quality has tumbled and watch your bill (they tried to stick in 150 USD over on mine)”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

very sad that this once good restaurant took a massive tumble

upon entry, one of the members of my party looked at the intense heat and too close lambs roasting away and said something was not right... "too hot..."

an elegant lady appeared and said "that's how it's done" and that was the end of that.

service seemed a bit too absented minded, and slow, although the place was not completely full.

the usually quaint decor seemed like it had been getting dog-eared and no one was keeping it tidy.

our king crab arrived and it tasted... which if you know king crab (centolla), means it was not fresh. in spite of the description and very high price.

the biggest disappointment was the lamb. overcooked in spots, mostly bland in others.
definitely not slow-roasted rich.

the english members of my party were less than taken aback by the "patagonian" lamb
and the chileans were dismayed by having recommended the place.

but the worst was yet to come

the bill had 3 "extra"items, totaling 75.000 pesos, or 150 dollars
that were not from our order.
a vapid apology and they were removed from the bill

when I inquired what happened with the over-charge, they said
"enough, we took it out".

definitely a miss in my book

btw. the owner was present at a table, but seemed more engrossed in his enjoyment of food and drink than in taking care of business.

a real shame

“getting worse”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

This restaurant is very popular.
At one time the food was very bad, then good, and now very bad again.
The lamb on a spit ( the house specialty) was so overcooked as to render it tasteless and inedible.
The restaurant was crowded and the service was poor.
At best, it is just ok in a city that has no quality restaurants.

“Great lamb in an isolated place”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

If you like lamb, this is the best place to go when visiting Santiago.
It is not very central, but the drive is worth what you are going to eat.
Lamb is done for persons who love lamb. It is prepared the way they do in Patagonia, juicy, and finger licking great.
they also have King Crab (Centolla), for giant crab lovers. But lamb is definetely the best choice.

“Lovely for a relaxing lunch”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

A few of us went forlunch and it felt like stepping into a chilean village. I didn't mind that the outside looked a bit rough, it added to the charm and was still very clean. We shared razor clams in a creamy gratin sauce, jamon and a whole king crab to start, then had mains. My crab gratin was great and my friend's lamb looked excellent. We finished with a chocolate and a manjar fondue. Very nice. Nothing fancy but great for a Sunday lunch.
