I travel around South America since the beginning of November and chose this place to be my xmas destination. Never regret it. The only downside: there is no chance that all guests can take breakfast(6 seats), or stay in the living room at the same time. But in reality: when does this actually happen? Breakfast: is a little bit better than South American Standard, as mentioned already in other reviews. Dorm: 6 beds, no a/c, but even with high temps outside, it was very comfortable inside. One big bathroom with tub, one extra shower, but no space for the clothes, towel etc. Kitchen: basic, but everything you need. Except of the fridge. Come on, guys, its time for a bigger one... :-)
Service: amazing. Pablo, Rodrigo and the rest of the staff makes you feel like home, but without the fighting during the holidays ;-) free pisco-sour (best ever, thanks Rodrigo), great xmas dinner and an amazing atmosphere.
Location: walk 15 min to the center or take the metro, just 2 blocks away. Area totally safe! Supermarket about 5-8 min away, a lot of Restaurants nearby.

Didn' t really want to leave, but sometimes you have to :-(

Reminder: My "complains" are on a very high level, if you visit Santiago, stay here!

Cean, nice rooms, good communal area, if a little dark. Good, well stocked kitchen and very very friendly, helpful staff. Probably the best hostel breakfast we have had in south America. Great location for bus terminal, airport and centre of city.

I stayed here in November 2012. Great place. Comfy. Clean. Small. And they observe their curfew which is great for us older travellers who prefer to avoid party hostels. The breakfast is basic but good. They knock up their own juices. Fresh fruit. Bread. Jam. Eggs. The only downside is the usual unfortunate instant South American Nescafé coffee. The hosts do not speak much English and the tourist info on hand is predominantly in Spanish, presumably catering to their usual run of guests, so go prepared. I stayed in a mixed dorm with a shared bathroom but there are private rooms available also. It's only a 15 minute walk into the town centre with the main attractions. Walking around the area a nighttime as a solo female I felt very safe.

Great little relaxed hostel. If I visited again I would probably choose to stay in Barrio Bellavista, but if you want to stay in Barrio Brazil....stay here. Very kooky decoration, good breakfast and wifi. But the main reason to stay here is the staff...Rodrigo and Pablo...two of the nicest guys I have met in South America. Rodrigo went out of his way to help us find information about tours in the wine region and even took us out to see some live music when we showed an interest. Pablo always welcomed us with a bright smile and radiated a good vibe throughout the hostel. Muchas gracias chicos! Great times!

Don Santiago is seriously beautiful and amazing. The house is decorated in a really funky and beautiful way, the place is kept spotless, and the atmosphere is really relaxed and lovely. The breakfast is delicious and one of the best I have seen - with fresh bread, eggs, fruit, and even Vegemite all served to you. They have an extensive book collection too, which I really loved - it can be hard to find English books to read while traveling. This is without a doubt the nicest hostel I have seen in South America. Highly, highly recommended.
