“A friendly welcoming BnB”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

Right next door to the Argentinian embassy and a short walk to the main street and restaurant scene this bed and breakfast has friendly and informative staff. Rooms are brightly coloured, simple but more than adequate for a stay in Santiago. They serve a good breakfast, have a nice lounge/bar area and two computers with good internet signals. We used this property for a one night stay on arrival into Chile and then rebooked it for our overnighter before flying home after our trip. On our second visit we arrived at 1am in the morning but it was no problem and we were quickly shown to our room by the night watchman. The service both times was consistent and nothing was a problem.

Room Tip: Both times we stayed in Room 14 which was in the rear so noise wasn't an issue, I suspect that a...

Stayed here in Dec. 2011. My wife and I really enjoyed it. Helpful staff, good food, nice location. It's on a busy boulevard but the windows facing the street were sound proof. They have a nice little bar downstairs and they even fixed me a late night beer and sandwich. Good stuff.

Hostal Rio Amazonas was the perfect place to stay in Santiago. We stayed here for 4 nights and paid 35,000 pesos/about $70US per night for a private room with private bath. We were given a room with an extra bed, so we had plenty of space. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable with colorful walls and plenty of shelf space. I believe the building is a renovated church and they have done a great job converting it into a hostel. The common area is a nice place to have a drink or empanada and check email. The staff were very friendly and helpful with all of our questions. It's about two blocks to the metro and close walking distance to the cafe and restaurant districts. Breakfast is great with plenty of food (yogurt, bread, jams, cereal, cheese, juice, fruit, coffee/tea, etc.). If you need to eat earlier than the stated breakfast times, they will accommodate you if you ask.

I highly recommend the restaurant Galindo on Constitution (we went there 3 times!) for amazing Chilean food at good prices. We booked a day tour to the Andes through the hostel that I can't say I'd recommend. It was ok and the guide was great, but it wasn't worth the money. We wanted to see the mountains and the ski resorts, but didn't have time to go skiing. Santiago is a wonderful city! Have fun!!

My wife and I needed a place to stay for two nights while passing through Santiago, our second time in the city. We were very pleased by the room and the friendliness/helpfulness of the staff. My wife came down with a stomach bug, and the staff were great vis-a-vis helping me to care for her. Good breakfast, lots of available information, good location. I highly recommend this place.

I stayed here a couple of weeks ago and can highly recommend it. We received a warm welcome from the staff. They were all helpful and several spoke very good english. The rooms were colourful and clean. We enjoyed our breakfast of fruit, yoghurt and bread. The location is great. We found it easy to walk to the nearby metro station, along with main streets leading us further into the city.

We inadvertently ended up at Hostal Rio Amazonas after our initial selection (Hostal Plaza de Armas) had us double-booked. Thankfully Hostal Rio Amazonas welcomed us, spoke great English and provided a wealth of local information including local eatery suggestions. Just a short walk from Plaza Italia and the charming Barrio Bella Vista and accessible via Baquedano station which is again, only a short stroll away.
The hostel has a great downstairs sitting area where there's nice music playing quietly and a selection of teas, coffees and other drinks as well as sandwiches available.
The hostel is in a beautiful old mansion with a great central courtyard. The room we has was quite large with an on street view but was nethertheless fairly quiet during the night and morning.
The breakfast is great, fairly standard but with fresh juices.
Highly recommended.

Everything is perfect in this odd mock tudor house. The staff is very kind and very helpfull (one person is french so it can help if your coming from france like us). The rooms are very spacious and very clean. The breakfast is amazing (wonderful jugos, great coffee, good bread!), the location is perfect (everything is in a short walk distance : barrio bellabista, barrio lastarrias are both at 10 min), and if you want to go further the metro is just at 3 min of the hostal, and the wifi is very good. This is the perfect place to stay in santiago.
