We had two nights at this hostel, close to the centre of Valdivia. They don’t advertise parking, but you can pull into their gated drive and park there. We arrived a little early, but check in was strictly 3pm.
Up to our room on the first floor, which had a double & a single bed. Quite a Spartan room and a tad threadbare, along with a scruffy looking wardrobe, but it was all clean. Good sized bathroom, but again very basic with thin towels.
Breakfast – the most meagre breakfast we had on our trip. Hot water in a thermos on the table to add to your powdered Nescafe (our worst nightmare). A dish of cheese, a couple of jams and a cake. We were then brought a yogurt and white bread that had already been toasted. There were a couple of apples one day and some unripe plums the next. We didn’t starve, but it was a very frugal affair.
There is nothing particularly wrong with this hostel. It is well located, warm and clean, but for all that, pretty basic.
Tip – don’t miss the fantastic fish market by the river, with the sea lions being fed off-cuts by the fish filleters. What a sight to behold and very entertaining.
