The Hostal Collins is in decent enough physical condition, but I was not impressed with the senior staff and the way they run their establishment. They seem to cater to local business travelers who speak the language and who come and go at predictable work hours and don't need much more than a place to sleep for a night or two.
For tourists, they are odd about reservations and are stingy about unexpected things. Also they do not provide keys and you must use the buzzer to gain access, which is problematic if you need to enter at an unusual hour. The proprietors are a bit neurotic and aren't inclined to be accommodating about holding luggage past check out, sufficiently heating rooms for their guests during colder months, providing services or information, etc. The regular cleaning/kitchen staff is perfectly lovely though.
Overall would not recommend to tourist visitors. Better to stay somewhere else down the road.
