Great place to stay. It has a great view of the lake and volcanos. Quiet and peaceful. Best value. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is included and have a lot of choices of food. Short walking distance to restaurants and town.

The Cabana is a large hotel which has large tour parties forming a big part of the custom. There is nothing wrong with it but it is a bit functional. It has excellent views over the lake and the snow capped volcanoes.

Dear Guest:
Thanks for your comments, indeed Cabana del Lago Hotel is the largest hotel in Puerto Varas with 10,000 square meters of land, with the complete infrastructure of the city. We are able to accommodate groups, families and individuals without problems due to the spaciousness.
Thanks for sharing your feedback with us and we hope you to return to southern Chile soon.
Kindest regards

Loved this hotel, which has views over the lake and volcano and is a 5 minute walk to the main square. The hotel is cosy and warm, decorated in Alpine style with wood, stone, rattan and cowhide. The lounge has an open fire and an outside terrace. There is a pool, fitness room, children's playroom and a gift shop.

Our room was small, especially the bathroom (dinky shower bath) but was comfortable and clean. As is the norm in South America, tea/coffee making facilities, an iron or free water are not provided, but there was a mini bar and free wifi.

The restaurant was a definite plus point. Fab views and equally good food with massive servings. The bar snacks are also good, and large. Breakfast consisted of the usual selection of cold meats, cheese, cereals, pastries etc, with a limited hot section.

Service was quick, attentive and friendly and there appeared to be a large amount of staff on duty.

I would recommend this hotel.

Dear Guest:
Thank you very much for sharing your lovely comments on this network. We are very happy to have met your expectations and that your stay has been pleasant. Indeed the hotel features ironing facilities, however, we will check with front desk - because all guests must be informed at check-in.

Receive an affectionate greeting from southern Chile

We stayed here for 4 nights but this hotel really caters for the overnight coach trip holiday and it shows! The rooms are very good overlooking the lake & housekeeping is excellent. However, the restaurant is another matter entirely! Breakfast is very crowded if you are unfortunate enough to get there at the same time as a coachload. The staff seem overwhelmed by it all! Tables are not cleared or relayed. The food choice is good & varied. Dinner is a more underwhelming experience, poor quality food & again the staff have no direction or leadership. Trying to get a reasonably priced bottle of wine was next to impossible(this was the start of the season)!

Room Tip: Ensure you get a lake view, some rooms have kitchens.

There are many things to like about Hotel Cabana Del Lago but the top one is the service. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, but the highest honor goes to Mary Sanchez, the concierge who speaks excellent English.

First about the hotel. The hotel is situated above the lake with excellent views both from various sitting areas and from the rooms. The rooms are comfortable but a bit small. We had a very small room the first night but were moved to a larger room the second night. We paid $200 the first night for a room because we had booked it on the Internet and $104 the second night for a larger room which was their rack rate. I suggest you call rather than booking it on line. The water is not very hot so do not anticipate a hot shower. We were unable to get the Internet in our room while we were here but we could get it in the common areas. They also have about 4 computers you can use in the lobby.

The restaurant is also very good with excellent service and nice views of the lake. We started with Chilean sea bass ceviche which was excellent. My husband had Chilean sea bass as a main course and I had Oso Bucco. The sea bass was not like Chilean sea bass in the U.S but more like a regular sea bass, fairly thinly cut and cooked well done. We thought it was overcooked. The Oso Bucco was nice with a nice sauce. We had their most expensive Carmenere (about $34 US) which was excellent. The meal with tip was about $75. Great value.

The second night we ate in their bar, had the same bottle of wine and empanadas and ceviche. It was very good and the service was excellent.

I also had a massage which was excellent (about $60 U.S.)

Just a bit more about Mary Sanchez. We had lost the papers for our reciprocity fee although we had already entered Argentina and had our passports stamped. We were supposed to take the lake crossing to Bariloche but the tour company would not let us go because we did not have the paper. Mary spent about 5 hours helping us to sort it out and making sure there was another room at the hotel so we could stay another night. She really went above and beyond the call of duty

Room Tip: Call the hotel to get the best rate and ask for a large room.

We stayed here for 3 nights after a trip to Torres del Paine. Our room was spacious and comfortable with lovely views of the lake and Volcán Calbuco. The hotel has some geo thermal system for heating the water which could have been hotter.
The restaurant was good as was the breakfast. The only drawback we found was that the hotel does cater for a lot of coach tours and sometimes it is so crowded it is impossible to find a seat in the restaurant. On our first morning we had to eat our breakfast standing up until a table became available

Dear guest:
Thank you for sharing your comments with us. The Hotel has a wonderful views as well as a complete infrastructure according to the beautiful landscapes and nature. Regarding your comments about the restaurant service, we anticipate this kind of situations, as we count with three restaurant: Mirador del Lago, Comerdor Phillippi and Aylén 75, the three facing lake and the volcanoes, the three with an amazing view and the three are together, so it is not complicated for us - when the Hotel is full - to offer 2 buffet to attend 250 people at the same time. We are so sorry with your experience, for sure we have to improve giving the correct information.
We thank you again, have a wonderful time and we hope to have your visit in the future.
Kindest regards,

We stayed here for 2 nights and our room had a great view of the lake and the mountain - the room was spacious even though it was triple room. The beds were comfortable and it was easy reach to the town - the breakfast was average. We did not have dinner at the hotel but tried couple of restaurants in town which were great. The hotel has a very warm feel to it.
