“A little secret of fantastic food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2014

On our last trip to Puerto Varas we stop for for lunch and Jaime's pick, a little restaurant called El Patio de Mi Casa. We ordered off the menu with Jaime providing translations and ate Salmon a la Plancha (served with a sauce spaetzle, Tortellini Stuffed with Chicken for our son (very good pasta drenched in a delicious cheese sauce), and a Crab Au Gratin dish (Pastel de Jaiba), which was very delicious. For the three of us, with one Crab dish, one Salmon dish, the Tortellini, a beer, Mineral Water, two glasses of White Wine (also terrific), and a Pisco Sour (our son's first, but definitely not his last!) the total was US $43. the best food we ever tried on this trip to Southamerica

“Good prices, food, and cute location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

We were staying at Hostal Opapa Juan, which is just around the corner from this restaurant, and had no trouble finding it. It really is the back room and patio of someone's house and we never would have noticed it without tripadvisor! We ordered what the waitress recommended as the house specialty: a fish served on top of mashed corn with a cheesy salsa on top. It was simple and good! We enjoyed the quiet ambiance. In addition to entrees, we each had a couple beers and waters and our total bill was around 40 usd.

“Off the beaten path delight”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2012

I just stopped in here tonight! Delicious food, and certainly a lot cheaper than its Puerto Varas competition. I highly recommend the salads, jugo natural, and savory crepe. Great dinner! Plus the waitress was extremely patient and very attentive. What's not to love about this place?

“truth in advertising... El Patio de Mi Casa - my patio! non traditional dining out, but good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2011

this one is a little off beat.

I think I have been to one restaurant like this before, where you are literally in someone's house, and it was in a lost town in Argentina.

and, as here, the food was surprisingly good.

so, back to the beginning

I had passed the sign several times and heard good things about this place from the locals. which is always a good sign, more so in a small town with a lot of tourism and therefore restaurants like Puerto Varas.

we went in for lunch, the owner is very friendly and will make sure you're comfortable.
he has a small bar, prepares the drinks himself. The place itself is a covered patio, not quite built up, but with windows, ceramic floor, etc.

the meals are not pretentious but good, fresh, and quite inexpensive.

it's a little hard to define, but basically good simple food, in a simple place, with the proprietor taking care of the details .
