We spent 2 nights in Puerto Varas and it was one of the highlights of our 3 weeks in Chile and Argentina. Although by no means solely responsible, the hotel did of course
contribute to this.
We had just stayed in the sister hotel in Punta Arenas, and the setup was fairly similar: large, comfortable rooms, a nice pool area etc. WiFi was good, breakfast was fairly decent (especially for South America) and the staff were helpful.
We arrived just after lunch and were a little tired, so had some room service, which was surprisingly very good food at a reasonable price.
The comfort of the room was our favourite feature of the hotel though, including of course the balcony and view. At both sunrise and sunset there were many people gathered at the viewpoint below the front of the hotel looking across the lake to Volcan Osorno. We had the same view, only from our private balcony and with the benefit of 5 floors of elevation. This in itself made the hotel a good choice.
We briefly wandered into the casino after dinner one evening, though we didn’t gamble. Not really our thing, though I guess this may be a reason that many stay here.
The location in town is very central and right on the waterfront. Free parking was also a big plus.More
