You can eat sea food and fish ,specailly salmon, buy plates are quite expensive , service was not so good when we went . as they were quite busy and had no time . Not good for a romantic dinner ,as decoration is basic ,and too much light .

The place was visited by some locals, and not nearly full, but the service was good, the waiters were really interested in our trip, and they called in the owner when we told them we checked them out on TripAdvisor, explained to them what TripAdvisor was, waiter advised us on a smaller order because it was a lot of food and in the end he was right and saved us some bucks, got machas, locos, centolla and beers until we dropped.

We returned to Chamaca Inn recently

everything was going swimmingly,
we had the pisco sour (sweet, very sweet, but not too bad 2.000), 3 medallas white wine (6.000 pesos the bottle), the mixed starter (king crab (centolla), crab pincers (super jumbo), big shrimp (not from Chile), and various other tasties, very good.

then we had different dishes:
hake with black butter 6.500 (plus additional for the sides, so really 8.000)
seafood soup (caldillo de marsicos, only 3.000 chp!)
chupe (translation?) de centolla (king crab) 10.000
locos (similar to abalone) apanados 8.000 (many, smaller abalones)
locos mayo 8.000 (4 huge ones)
soft drinks are 1.000
some kids menus
cebiche (can't remember the price)
desert was the recommended home made leche asada, very good

all very good, simple stuff, fresh, relatively well prepared (nothing special in the preparation I'm afraid, and we avoided the sauces and things we had read here that they can't tackle so well)

service was friendly, efficient, and good on the upsell

the only problem came with the bill
doctor style scribbles, with numbers all over the place
we speak spanish so we had the waiter go over every thing
and ...
lo and behold.. surprises!
and of the wrong sort
the kids meals were charged as king crab
there were two extra high dollar starters
all in all
three separate "mistakes" (all in favor of the joint)
that added up nearly 40 dollars to the bill
they were quick in correcting
but no apologies were made, nor compensation offered

so, eat up, enjoy
but make sure you understand the bill at the end and that it all adds up correctly

I wouldn't take sensitive clients here again, after this experience, because enjoying a very nice meal only to have to be extra cautious on the bill is no fun

we had to pay cash, they used to take cards, and I didn't understand if
the machine no longer works or what. but also make sure you have cash on hand

Fresh, tasty seafood at reasonable price and a smiling service.

Friendly owner doesn't speak English but menu is in English and has photo.

Drop by when in town!

I have eaten here several times in the past 5 years, always with excellent results. All is very fresh, prepared so that you can enjoy the fish in a simple presentation. The ceviche is to die for! Desert might be half a ripe, delicious melon or peach. Always prompt and friendly service. Some outdoor seating in nice weather.
