We had 3 nights at Casa Kalfu, first impressions were wonderful. It's a beautiful building, lovely atmosphere and gorgeous rooms. Our gripe is a security issue...on our first night there we were woken by somebody trying to get through our window (we were on the ground floor). Very frightening as you can imagine (2 females), and as nice as the night manager was, he couldn't understand english and didn't quite understand what we were trying to tell him had happened. The intruder had broken off the locking handle in his attempt to get in, and as a quick fix the night manager taped our window shut with masking tape, understandably it was the best he could do at that hour of the night. The following day we asked if we could be moved to a more secure room and the staff didn't believe us about the intruder, insisting that it was a very safe area and that things like that never happen. Well it did, and we were ready to find alternative accommodation if something wasn't done to secure our room. Later the next day they did secure our window closed (never to be opened again!) and we continued our stay there. Apart from this incident, the place is faultless, the food lovely, and again, the atmosphere and furnishings are really comfortable, although I do think it is a tad overpriced I guess I'm just mentioning the incident in my review so that others are aware that things like this do happen and to perhaps be vigilant about locking windows and doors. Overall, I would recommend Casa Kalfu, it does deserve all the good reviews it gets.
